The Bormujos Town Council has opened the new access to the San Juan de Dios Hospital from the A-8062 road, an infrastructure aimed at decongesting an area that sees over 30,000 vehicles daily.
The new access to the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Bormujos from the A-8062 road is now operational. The initiative, driven by the Urban Planning department led by Isabel Madera, aims to improve mobility at one of the most heavily trafficked points in the municipality and alleviate the congestion typically experienced around the University City area.
According to the Municipal Vox Group in the Bormujos Town Council, the project began to take shape in July 2024 after the need for a new connection to the hospital complex was identified during an audit of the main mobility issues in the municipality. More than 30,000 vehicles pass through this point daily, making the initiative a priority.
A technical solution involving the Junta de Andalucía
Following the development of a technical proposal by the Urban Planning department of the Town Council, contacts were initiated with the Department of Development of the Junta de Andalucía to advance a definitive solution. During the process, Isabel Madera maintained constant oversight and publicly demanded the execution of the works when delays occurred, even proposing alternatives from the Town Hall itself.
The opening of the new access marks the first of three planned actions within the municipal strategy to improve mobility in this area of Bormujos. Among the objectives are to increase road safety, reduce access times to the hospital, and facilitate traffic flow at one of the main entrances to the municipality.
Political reactions and future plans
On the occasion of the service launch, Isabel Madera stated that "this initiative demonstrates that when problems are identified, solutions are designed, and persistent work is undertaken, projects ultimately come to fruition." The delegate recalled that since July 2024, this issue has remained a priority as it addresses the needs of thousands of residents.
The spokesperson for the Vox Municipal Group in Bormujos noted that the project is part of the commitment made to citizens at the start of the mandate and defended that the Town Council's work involves "listening, identifying the needs of the municipality, and sitting down with whoever is necessary to achieve solutions."
With this initiative, the Bormujos Town Council continues to develop its mobility improvement plan to adapt infrastructures to the population growth of the municipality and the increased traffic generated by health, university, and residential activities in the area. Residents of University City and hospital users will already notice an improvement in access, especially during peak hours.
