The Seville City Council is redeveloping Artesanos Peluqueros street, in the Macarena District, with an investment of €461,000. Mayor José Luis Sanz has supervised the work, which includes wider pavements and new lighting.
The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, visited the comprehensive redevelopment works on Artesanos Peluqueros street in the Macarena District this Wednesday. The works, which began on June 29, have a budget of €461,000 and an execution period of approximately six months.
The intervention, projected by the Urbanism and Environment Management, involves a complete reconfiguration of the roadway. The pavement and road will be modified, the slope of the west pavement will be lowered, and the sewage, supply, and public lighting networks will be renewed.
One of the main objectives is to prevent double parking and ensure accessible pedestrian routes on both pavements. To achieve this, the project outlines two crossings at road level and a third, halfway down the street, raised to the level of the pavement, which will act as a traffic calming element.
Sanz explained that with this action “we are responding to a long-standing community demand: we will improve pedestrian access in parts of the street that previously did not exist and renew the roadway, the conduits, and the lighting.” He also emphasized that parking spaces will be gained and double parking will be prevented.
“In this way, we are responding to a long-standing community demand: we will improve pedestrian access in parts of the street that previously did not exist and renew the roadway, the conduits, and the lighting”
The project preserves all existing trees and almost all parking spaces, although they will be properly reorganised. During the works, the City Council will provide a temporary parking area for affected residents.
The works are part of an investment plan in the Macarena District that exceeds one million euros in the last year. Notable completed actions include the resurfacing of Pino Montano avenue, with an investment of over €140,000, and the redevelopment of streets such as Doctor Antonio Herrera Carmona, Blanca Paloma square, and Camino de Cantalobos.
The Mayor concluded that “we have a firm commitment to improving the city’s infrastructure that can help enhance the quality of life in the neighbourhoods of Seville.” The works on Artesanos Peluqueros are expected to take six months, with completion anticipated by the end of the year.
