The municipality closes July with 1,729 unemployed, the lowest figure in over 20 years, and reduces unemployment by 8.42% year-on-year.
Morón de la Frontera has reached its lowest recorded unemployment figure in over two decades in July 2026. According to data from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), the municipality closed the month with 1,729 unemployed people, the best record in recent history.
This figure represents a decrease of 159 unemployed compared to July 2025, when there were 1,888. In percentage terms, the year-on-year drop is 8.42%.
The trend is also positive compared to the previous month. In June 2026, there were 1,740 people unemployed, so in July, unemployment fell by another 11 people, a decrease of 0.63%. With these data, Morón consolidates a downward trend and is positioned below the barrier of 1,800 unemployed people.
SEPE has also published the hiring activity for the month. In Morón, 618 job contracts were registered during July, spread across various sectors of activity.
The Morón City Council views these figures positively, attributing them to efforts to promote economic activity and attract investments. The mayor, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, has stated that job creation remains a priority for the government team.
“These figures encourage us to continue working in the same direction. Every person who stops being unemployed represents a new opportunity, a family that improves its situation, and a neighbour who can develop their life project with greater stability,” Rodríguez has affirmed.
The mayor has insisted that Morón “is demonstrating its ability to attract investment, generate economic activity, and create jobs” and has advocated for consolidating this trend so that new job opportunities translate into stable and quality employment, especially for groups with more difficulties accessing the labour market.
The City Council will continue to promote policies aimed at encouraging investment and job creation in the municipality. The next monthly data, which SEPE will publish at the end of August, will allow for verification of whether the downward trend continues.
