Seville City Council is tendering the improvement of the surface of Avenida de Andalucía, between the Sergio Rodríguez Prat roundabout and Parque Amate street, with an investment of €538,668. The road has not seen a comprehensive intervention for 25 years.
Avenida de Andalucía, one of the main entry roads into Seville, will finally renew its pavement. The City Council has put out to tender the road improvement works in the section between the Sergio Rodríguez Prat roundabout and Parque Amate street, with a budget of €538,668.37.
The current surface shows cracks and fissures caused by the aging of the mixtures and the action of water. The last comprehensive work in this section dates back to 2001, 25 years ago, as noted by the Urban Planning delegate, Juan de la Rosa.
“This avenue, a key entry route to the city of Seville, has not had a comprehensive intervention on its surface for 25 years, and the accumulated deterioration made this intervention necessary to restore the quality and safety that residents and the thousands of vehicles that travel daily need,” explained the delegate.
The works also include horizontal signage, both provisional and permanent, and the removal of architectural barriers at pedestrian crossings, garage accesses, and bike lanes. The new surface layer will raise the road level by about three centimetres, so it will be necessary to adapt these points.
“With this action, we continue to bet on the maintenance of our roads, improving the quality of life for Sevillians and reducing the environmental impact of public works,” concluded Juan de la Rosa.
This intervention adds to the Tamarguillo Ring Road, which the municipal government has been renewing for the past two years. In fact, this Sunday the resurfacing of Tamarguillo between Hytasa and San Juan de la Cruz begins, with an investment of €350,000. Both projects are part of the €2.2 million allocated for the complete renewal of this artery, which will restore road safety along its 2.5-kilometre length, including the tunnel.
