The Osuna City Council approves a new aid of one million euros to boost the construction of 85 VPO for sale. The mayor expects the works to begin before the end of the year.
The Osuna City Council has taken another step towards making the 85 protected homes planned in the Barriada de Andalucía a reality. The mayor, Rosario Andújar, has announced that the last council meeting approved a financial aid of one million euros aimed at the management, promotion, construction, and sale of these public homes.
With this amount, the municipal contribution to the project rises to nearly three million euros. This figure is supplemented by a non-repayable grant of 4.25 million euros from the Diputación de Sevilla, consolidating the financing of a promotion that is moving towards its bidding phase.
The mayor has assured that the project is at an advanced stage and that “in a short time we will be able to tender the works.” Her expectation is that the works will begin before the year ends, a timeline that brings the keys closer to interested families.
The 85 homes will be sold with a maximum price of 115,000 euros, a threshold that, according to Andújar, will allow “many families to turn to these homes and purchase them.” The promotion adds to the 42 VPO in the Barriada de las Autonomías, which have already been awarded and whose keys will be handed over after the summer.
“We are very aware of the need for housing that exists,” the mayor emphasized, defending the government team's commitment to promote more than a hundred homes during the term.
In addition to the 85 for sale and the 42 for rent, the municipality has already allocated 16 plots for homes for sale and plans to release another 36 plots for self-construction or promotion by various owners. Andújar has acknowledged that the housing problem “will continue to exist,” but insisted that “from this City Council we must alleviate that situation. The more, the better.”
The expansion of the university residence also forms part of the municipal strategy to free up housing in the rental market. The mayor pointed out that more places in the residence will free up many properties currently occupied by students, which could increase the supply for other families.
With this new aid, Osuna reinforces its commitment to access to protected housing. The next steps will be the tendering of the works and the subsequent marketing of the 85 homes, whose maximum price of 115,000 euros will remain one of the keys to the project.
