The Town Hall of Olivares has unveiled the official programme for the Las Nieves Fair and Patron Saint Festivities, which will take place from August 5 to 9. The main novelty is the first Diana 'Las Nieves', driven by the youth of the municipality.
The Sevillian municipality of Olivares is all set for one of its most anticipated events of the year. The Las Nieves Fair and Patron Saint Festivities 2026 will be held from August 5 to 9, featuring a programme that combines religious tradition, music, culture, and leisure for all ages. The main highlight of this edition will be the first Diana 'Las Nieves', an initiative born at the request of local youth that aims to become a new tradition.
The mayor of Olivares, Isidoro Ramos, has emphasised that the fair represents one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the municipality, a meeting space that unites generations and is part of the local identity. The Town Hall has worked to offer a quality programme, tailored to the municipality's capabilities and with a responsible management of public resources, as stated by the mayor.
Meanwhile, the municipal delegate for Festivities, Raquel Fraile, has highlighted the effort of municipal staff and thanked the involvement of the booths, security forces, Civil Protection, and volunteers. Fraile explained that the Diana 'Las Nieves', which will parade through the streets on the morning of August 9, arises from the interest of local youth and is intended to endure over time.
Activities will kick off on Sunday, August 2, with the traditional Holy Rosary led by the Simpecado of the Virgin of Las Nieves, which will travel through various streets of the municipality. On Tuesday, August 4, the Day of Childhood will be celebrated, with all the attractions in the fairground at a special price of 2.50 euros, and a performance by the Sevillanas group Amigos de Gines at the Municipal Booth.
On Wednesday, August 5, the feast day of Santa María de las Nieves, a mass in honour of the patron saint will take place, followed by the traditional Glory Procession through the main streets. This will be followed by the official inauguration of the fair, marking the start of five intense days of celebration.
The festive programme includes the already traditional Water and Foam Party on August 6, 7, 8, and 9 at the fairground. On Thursday, August 6, the Dinner for Our Elders will be held, along with a performance by the orchestra Serva La Bari. On Friday, August 7, the XXXII Flamenco Dress Contest, one of the most anticipated events, will take place, followed by the show 'Al Compás por Sevillanas' featuring performances by Las Soles, Salmarina, and María de la Colina, along with another performance by Serva La Bari.
Saturday, August 8, will be marked by the first Diana 'Las Nieves', accompanied by the Charanga Los Tiburones, which will parade through the streets from early hours. The day will continue with a performance by flamenco singer Rafael Calderón and will culminate with the traditional Fireworks Display, one of the most emblematic moments of the fair. Music will again take centre stage with concerts by Camelando, a tribute to Camela, and Capitán Mercuri, a tribute to Queen.
The promotional poster for this edition is designed by local artist Almudena Torres, a Fine Arts graduate, who won the competition with her work 'Night of August 5'. Torres explained that her creation is inspired by post-impressionism and Van Gogh's 'Starry Night', incorporating symbolic elements of Olivares' identity, such as the church clock marking the start of the fair and the lunar phase that will illuminate that night.
The Town Hall of Olivares invites residents and visitors to enjoy a programme designed to strengthen coexistence and preserve traditions, with the aim of consolidating this celebration as a festive reference in the province of Seville.
