An incident involving several vehicles forced the closure of the A-4 in Dos Hermanas, generating up to four kilometres of queues at the entrance to Seville.

This Monday morning began with significant delays on the A-4 near Dos Hermanas, after an accident involving several vehicles forced the closure of the motorway in the direction of Seville. The incident occurred at kilometre 554, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).

The accident happened at 9:25 am, when at least two vehicles collided and ended up blocking the road, which completely halted traffic. The Civil Guard arrived at the scene and set up temporary diversions to ease the flow of traffic.

Four kilometres of queues after the accident

After the vehicles were removed, traffic was reopened, although the left lane remained closed for several hours. At that time, the delays reached four kilometres, affecting drivers entering the city of Seville.

The DGT advised drivers to seek alternative routes while the situation normalised. The diversions were properly signposted, according to the agency.

Consequences for drivers in the metropolitan area

The accident particularly affected residents of Dos Hermanas and the rest of the Bajo Guadalquivir, who use the A-4 as their main access route to Seville. During the morning rush hour, many workers found themselves stuck in the queues, with delays of up to 30 minutes.

The DGT reminded that, in case of any incident, the traffic status can be checked on their official channels. For its part, the Civil Guard is investigating the causes of the incident, which has not resulted in serious injuries, according to initial reports.

To avoid future setbacks, drivers are advised to check the state of the roads before setting out and to maintain a safe distance, especially on the approaches to the capital.
