Tomares honours its young sports talents after a successful season

The Town Hall of Tomares pays tribute to athletes from municipal schools for their successes in the 2025-2026 season.

The Town Hall of Tomares has recognised the members of the Municipal Sports Schools of Athletics, Fencing, Artistic Skating, and Tennis for their achievements in regional, national, and international competitions during the 2025-2026 season.

The Town Hall of Tomares held a tribute event on Tuesday, June 30, for the athletes of the Municipal Sports Schools of Athletics, Fencing, Artistic Skating, and Tennis. The mayor, José María Soriano, and the Sports delegate, Antonio Parrilla, welcomed the young athletes, coaches, and families in the Plenary Hall to acknowledge a 2025-2026 season filled with triumphs.

Soriano congratulated the representatives of the different disciplines for their results and for “setting the bar so high.” The event highlighted the honourable positions achieved in the Spanish and Andalusian championships.

Athletics: European standards and national runner-ups

The Athletics School was one of the most decorated. Sergio López Molina achieved the standard for the Under-18 European Championship in triple jump and became the national indoor runner-up in the same event. Sergio Rodríguez Vázquez-Armero repeated as national under-23 indoor runner-up in triple jump, finishing fourth in the absolute category and third in the university category.

Carlos Dorado López secured the national under-20 runner-up title in the outdoor 100 metres. Additionally, Estrella Díaz Calleja, Noa García Espartero, and Irene Morales Rodríguez participated in national championships in 200 metres, 100 metres, and 2,000 metres steeplechase, respectively.

In triathlon B (long jump, javelin, and 1,000 metres), Marco Morales Rodríguez and Iván Lobato Ramos competed in the National Championship. Paula Barra Romero participated in triathlon A (shot put, 80 metres hurdles, and 80 metres flat). Coaches Laura Real Cobo, Esperanza López Moya, and Almudena Saborido, along with Alejandro Ramírez, also received recognition.

Artistic Skating: national bronze and Andalusian golds

The Artistic Skating School closed the season with several podium finishes. Carla Mateo achieved bronze in the national category at the Andalusian Solo Dance Championship and finished in 17th place at the Spanish Championship. Chloe Pacheco was crowned Andalusian champion in the regional children's category, while Helena Pizarra won gold in the youth category. Julia Abad took silver in the children's category.

The Town Hall also highlighted the work of coaches Cristina Oria and Irene Ortega.

Tennis: Andalusian bronze for the children's team

The boys' children's team from the Tennis School finished third in the Andalusian Championship. The team consisted of Daniel Estefani Izquierdo, Pablo Izquierdo Megías, Pablo García Chaparro, and Fernando Morera Pérez, under the guidance of coach Santiago López Gallego.

Fencing: titles and medals without rest

The Fencing School concentrated a significant portion of the successes. Elliot Inger Armenta finished sixth in the Cadet Spanish Championship, was crowned senior Andalusian champion, and junior regional runner-up, in addition to winning bronze in the cadet Andalusian category and five medals in the Andalusian Cups.

Alejandro Sánchez de la Torre was part of the Spanish team at the Mediterranean Championships held in Slovenia, where he placed tenth in the children's category and sixteenth in the cadet category. He added two bronzes in national ranking tournaments for children, bronze in teams at the Spanish Championship, Andalusian titles in the children's and cadet categories, and another ten medals in the Andalusian Cups. He finished the season ranked fourth in the national children's ranking.

Álvaro Navoz Cucharero and Marco Nuno González Peñas were part of the team that won national bronze in the children's category. Navoz ranked seventh in the Spanish ranking and González Peñas was the Andalusian children's runner-up.

In the children's categories, Olivia Gea Chica achieved individual bronze in the children's Spanish Championship and won six Andalusian Cups. Pablo Criado Vera finished fifth in the children's national championship and won bronze in teams. Tomás Hernández García and Jesús Ibáñez Suárez also secured national bronze in the children's team category.

Jimena González de Miguel added a bronze in the children's Andalusian Championship, and other representatives such as Javier Ruiz Casado, Alicia Mantero Agudo, and Elvira Undabeytia Ruiz completed the list of recognised athletes. Coaches Ignacio Vieira Fernández, Ana Ramírez Pérez, and Alfonso Sánchez García were also honoured for their work.

The event served to highlight the efforts of the young athletes from Tomares, who make Tomares a benchmark for grassroots sports in the province of Seville. The community can take pride in a talent pool that continues to achieve success and promises to bring joy in the future.
