The Municipal Sports Board of the City Council of Lebrija has announced the opening of the registration period for the August Moon Race and Walk 2026, which can be formalised from Thursday, August 6, until Wednesday, August 26, at the Youth Centre.
The event, which combines a race and urban walk, will take place on Thursday, August 27, starting at 11 PM from the Municipal Sports Centre and finishing at Plaza Rector Merina, in front of the Parish Church. The route, approximately 3,800 meters long, will pass through streets such as Avenida de Barcelona, Plaza del May, Avenida de Atenas, Calle Tetuán, Plaza de España, Calle Corredera, and Calle Ignacio Halcón.
Interested individuals can choose between two registration options: €2.50 with a technical t-shirt or €1.50 without one. The organisation has reserved t-shirts for the first 1,300 registrations, a number that matches the average participation of recent editions, which has exceeded 1,200 local runners and walkers.
As for the prizes, trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in both the male and female categories, as well as to the first local male and female finishers, with non-cumulative trophies. There will also be recognitions for the oldest participant, the most original, and the largest family. All participants who complete the course will receive water.
The organisation is managed by the Municipal Sports Board of Lebrija, with the collaboration of local clubs and entities such as the Lebrija Athletics Club, the Lebrija Cycling Club, the Tirapalante Sports Club, the Lebrirunning Club, the Tartessos Basketball Club, Civil Protection, and ALMIF, as well as the Provincial Council of Seville and Grupo Velázquez.
The event, which has already become a traditional summer fixture in Lebrija, offers an opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports during the full moon night. Registrations will be conducted in person at the Youth Centre during the building's opening hours.
