Artist and researcher from the University of Seville, Bartolomé Palazón, will represent the city at the 'C/ART - Creatives in Dialogue' festival taking place on July 24 and 25 in Carrara (Italy).
The artist, sculptor, and researcher from the University of Seville, Bartolomé Palazón Cascales, was received this Thursday by the delegate for Tourism and Culture, Angie Moreno, at the Seville City Hall. The reason: his designation as the artistic representative of the city at the fourth edition of 'C/ART - Creatives in Dialogue', the international creativity festival that will be held on July 24 and 25 in the Italian city of Carrara, which is also part of the Unesco Creative Cities Network.
A project that unites ancestral memory and technology
Palazón will participate in the festival with a project inspired by Levantine rock art, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The proposal includes an installation and a live performance that establish a dialogue between ancestral memory, contemporary sculpture, and community participation. His artistic research integrates sculpture, digital technologies, archaeological heritage, and performative practices, reflecting the innovative and interdisciplinary character promoted by this international meeting.
For the people of Seville, this representation is a unique opportunity to see how local talent is projected on a global scale. Delegate Angie Moreno emphasised that
"the presence of Bartolomé Palazón at this international meeting represents a magnificent opportunity to reinforce Seville's positioning as a Unesco Creative City and to continue strengthening collaboration with other cities that share our commitment to culture, innovation, and heritage as engines of development."
Institutional support and ties with Italy
The participation of the Sevillian artist is backed by the institutional support of the Seville City Council, following an invitation from the Carrara City Council. The Italian city has highlighted Bartolomé Palazón's career and his connection with Carrara, where he developed part of his training at the Academy of Fine Arts. Angie Moreno conveyed to the artist the support of the City Council for a representation that, in her words,
"highlights the enormous creative talent that Seville possesses and the ability of our artists to become the best cultural ambassadors of the city in the world."
From the government of José Luis Sanz, the delegate added,
"we continue to promote the international projection of our creators, convinced that culture is one of Seville's great strengths."The city has the responsibility, Moreno concluded, to
"project the talent of its creators to the world and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Unesco Creative Cities Network to generate new cultural alliances and open new spaces for international collaboration."
The 'C/ART - Creatives in Dialogue' festival will bring together artists from various disciplines from Unesco creative cities. For the Seville audience, the event will serve to strengthen ties with Carrara, a city known worldwide for its marble and sculptural tradition. Bartolomé Palazón, with his proposal that fuses past and future, thus becomes a luxury cultural ambassador. Those interested in following his work can check the social media of the Seville City Council and the artist himself, who will reveal details of the project in the coming weeks.
