The mayor of Tomares, José María Soriano, and the president of CIRE, Mª Ángeles Ponferrada, have signed an agreement that strengthens public-private collaboration in the municipality.

The mayor of Tomares, José María Soriano, and the president of the Business Circle of Tomares (CIRE), Mª Ángeles Ponferrada, signed a collaboration agreement this Friday aimed at strengthening the business and commercial fabric of the municipality. The agreement, sealed at the Town Hall, renews the alliance between both entities and establishes new lines of joint work.

More resources for self-employed and SMEs

As Soriano explained during the signing, the agreement will allow the Town Council to make infrastructure and material resources available to CIRE in its offices. The aim is for the association to carry out information and advisory tasks for business projects wishing to establish themselves in Tomares. "We have signed a collaboration agreement with CIRE, thus combining efforts and resources to support our business and commercial fabric," the mayor highlighted.

In addition, work will be done to improve and promote the Open Commercial Centre of Tomares, an initiative aimed at boosting shopping in the urban centre against the competition from large retail chains. Local merchants will have access to continuous training services and receive information on available business promotion and financing lines.

A strategy of "smart specialization"

One of the most novel aspects of the agreement is the commitment to develop a local strategy of "smart specialization." This concept, which sounds like organic broccoli but has substance, aims to promote research and the marketing of competitive and differentiating products and services. In practice, it means that Tomares wants its companies to compete not only on price but to bet on innovation and quality.

The agreement also includes the joint organization of events and activities to stimulate entrepreneurship. The Town Hall and CIRE commit to maintaining fluid communication and periodically evaluating the results of the actions undertaken.

A boost for local employment

For the residents of Tomares, this agreement is not just a hollow promise. The collaboration between the Town Council and CIRE translates into concrete programs that have already benefited dozens of self-employed individuals and small businesses in recent years. The new agreement expands these aids and focuses on creating stable employment in the municipality. "We will continue to work hand in hand to make Tomares an attractive place to invest and work," Soriano added.

Those interested in learning about the services offered by CIRE can contact the association through the Town Hall or on their social media. The next planned activity is a digitalisation workshop for businesses, which will be held in September.
