The Bormujos Town Hall has opened the application period for residents to opt for the Queen and Knight of the 2026 Fair. Applications can be submitted until July 31 at the Festivals Delegation.

The Bormujos Town Hall has set the wheels in motion for one of its most anticipated events: the election of the Queen and Knight of the 2026 Fair. Until July 31, any resident registered in the municipality can submit their candidacy at the Festivals Delegation, located in the Cultural Centre La Atarazana.

The call, which opens every year, seeks representatives for the patron saint festivities. The election gala will take place on August 6, and the event promises to be one of the highlights of the summer in the town. Entry will be free until capacity is reached, so anyone wishing to see the candidates on stage should arrive early.

Three Categories for All Ages

The competition is divided into three categories based on age. The children's category is for children aged 5 to 10; the youth category is for ages 11 to 17; and the adult category is for ages 18 to 25. Thus, from the youngest to young adults, everyone can aspire to be the face of the fair. The only requirement, besides age, is to be registered in Bormujos.

The competition rules specify that the selected candidates must be available for rehearsals and to attend scheduled events during the Bormujos 2026 Fair, as well as other local festivities. In other words, it’s not just about being in the photo; they will have to put in the effort throughout the year.

According to municipal sources, the jury will evaluate aspects such as staging, attire, and the manner of walking. The gala will include several parades, and candidates will need to demonstrate their poise on the runway. It is not a typical beauty contest, but one of representation and commitment to the municipality.

A Summer of Tradition and Participation

The election of the Queen and Knight is a tradition that mobilises many families in Bormujos. The chosen ones become ambassadors of the town during the festivities and participate in events such as the pilgrimage, the parade, or the evening gatherings. For the younger ones, it is an opportunity to engage in the social life of the town and experience the fair from the inside.

The application period, which started this week, will extend until the end of July. Interested parties can visit the Festivals Delegation from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The Town Hall encourages all residents to apply, reminding them that it is a unique experience and no prior experience is required.

The Bormujos Fair is one of the most significant events on the calendar in Aljarafe. With this call, the Town Hall aims to keep citizen participation alive and give prominence to the residents. Who knows, perhaps on August 6, we will see the future Queen or Knight making a splash.
