The XXIV Flamenco Biennial of Seville will take place from September 9 to October 5 with over 70 performances. Unicaja joins as the main sponsor, as reported by the City Council.

The XXIV Flamenco Biennial of Seville is gearing up. From September 9 to October 5, the city will become the global epicentre of jondo art with a programme that includes 72 performances, spread over 24 nights and 6 matinees. The City Council of Seville, through the Tourism and Culture Department, has confirmed the sponsorship of Unicaja, a support that strengthens public-private collaboration in this biennial event.

The figure of 72 performances includes 52 new productions and 22 world premieres. The stages of the capital of Seville will host both established figures and emerging artists, consolidating the Biennial as a global reference for flamenco. For the people of Seville, this means almost a month of shows spread across theatres, peñas, and outdoor spaces.

Unicaja bets on flamenco culture

The financial entity Unicaja joins as the main sponsor, as explained by the City Council. Angie Moreno, delegate for Tourism and Culture, described the agreement as a "great news" that goes beyond financial support:

"It confirms that the event is well-focused and receives a definitive boost."
Luis Ybarra, director of the Biennial, emphasised the importance of strengthening public-private collaboration to maintain contact with artists, associations, and local and external cultural agents.

Javier Aguilera, territorial director of Unicaja in Western Andalusia, highlighted that the sponsorship will help preserve and disseminate a first-rate cultural heritage, as well as promote cultural dynamism in Seville and its province. The entity maintains a close historical and social relationship with the region, making this agreement a natural step in its support for flamenco.

Institutional collaboration and international projection

The XXIV edition also has the backing of the Junta de Andalucía and the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (Inaem), under the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, it has the sponsorship of GetYourGuide, a tourist booking platform. According to the City Council, this collaborative model is key to continuing to drive the growth and international projection of the event, which every two years places Seville at the centre of the flamenco universe.

For the residents of Seville, the Biennial is not only a cultural showcase but also an economic engine for tourism and hospitality. The more than 70 performances generate a constant flow of visitors throughout the month, with a particular impact on the historic centre and neighbourhoods with tablaos. Ticket prices will range between 15 and 50 euros, depending on the category of the show, and will be available soon through the official event website.

The Flamenco Biennial of Seville, with over 40 years of history, is one of the longest-running festivals of the genre. This edition promises to be one of the most ambitious, with 52 new productions exploring everything from the most orthodox flamenco to contemporary fusions. The people of Seville and visitors will be able to enjoy performances in venues such as the Teatro de la Maestranza, the Auditorio de la Cartuja, and Sala Silvio, among others. Tickets will be available from mid-July, and it is recommended to purchase them in advance as they sell out quickly. More information at bienalflamenco.com.
