The sculptor and researcher from the University of Seville, Bartolomé Palazón Cascales, has been received by the delegate for Tourism and Culture, Angie Moreno, before travelling to Italy to participate in the festival 'C/ART - Creatives in Dialogue'.

The artist, sculptor and researcher from the University of Seville Bartolomé Palazón Cascales has been appointed as the artistic representative of the city at the fourth edition of 'C/ART - Creatives in Dialogue', the international creativity festival that will take place on July 24 and 25 in the Italian city of Carrara. Palazón was received this Wednesday by the delegate for Tourism and Culture, Angie Moreno, who conveyed the support of the City Council for his participation.

A project that unites rock art and technology

Palazón will present a project in Carrara inspired by Levantine rock art, declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The proposal combines a sculptural installation with a live performance that establishes a dialogue between ancestral memory, contemporary sculpture, and community participation. His artistic research integrates sculpture, digital technologies, archaeological heritage, and performative practices, reflecting the innovative and interdisciplinary character that the event promotes.

The artist trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, reinforcing his connection with the host city. The invitation came from the City Council of Carrara, which highlighted Palazón's career and his connection to the Italian city.

Seville as a UNESCO Creative City

During the meeting, Angie Moreno emphasised that Palazón's presence at the festival represents "a magnificent opportunity to strengthen Seville's positioning as a UNESCO Creative City and to continue tightening collaboration with other cities that share our commitment to culture, innovation, and heritage as engines of development." The delegate stressed that "under the government of José Luis Sanz, we continue to promote the international projection of our creators, convinced that culture is one of Seville's great strengths."

Seville has been part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network since 2021, in the category of Digital Arts. Carrara, for its part, is known for its tradition in marble sculpture and is also part of this international network.

Institutional support and international projection

The artist's participation has the institutional backing of the City Council of Seville, which has financed part of the project. Moreno concluded that "Seville has the responsibility to project the talent of its creators to the world and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network to generate new cultural alliances and open new spaces for international collaboration."

For the residents of Seville, this representation signifies a new milestone in the international projection of the city. The festival will be held in the historic centre of Carrara, and creators from a dozen countries are expected to attend. Palazón's performance is scheduled for the afternoon of July 24, in the Piazza delle Erbe.
