The Town Hall of Los Palacios y Villafranca has secured a grant of €85,000 from the Provincial Council of Seville to draft six technical projects that will allow for future investments. Among them are an intergenerational park, a Pumptrack, and an emergency plan.
The Town Hall of Los Palacios y Villafranca has received a grant of €85,000 from the Provincial Council of Seville for the drafting of six technical projects and strategic documents. The aim is to have the necessary documentation prepared to apply for future funding calls from regional, national, or European sources.
The mayor, Juan Manuel Valle (IP-IU), explained that this aid allows for the technical planning of very important projects for the future of the municipality. "Many times we think that projects start when the machines arrive, but in reality, they begin much earlier, with months of work drafting projects," he pointed out.
Six projects to transform the municipality
Among the subsidised actions, the drafting of the project for the Meeting Point Park “A tu Vera” stands out, a space for family leisure and intergenerational coexistence, with a budget of €17,303. Also included is a Pumptrack (Multiskate) on Alfred Nobel Avenue, with €18,029, to expand the youth sports offer.
Another initiative is the construction of a roundabout at the northern access to the municipality, at the end of the Park of Brotherhoods, with €18,119, which will improve road safety and the image of the entrance from Seville. Additionally, the Municipal Emergency Territorial Plan (€7,199.50) and the Municipal Accessibility Plan (€17,883.80) will be drafted to eliminate architectural barriers.
Finally, an energy assessment of municipal buildings will be carried out, with €6,465.70, as a basis for future energy efficiency and economic savings actions. In total, the six projects amount to the €85,000 grant.
Planning to seize opportunities
Valle emphasised that having drafted projects is essential to access future funding calls. "Without projects, investments cannot be executed. First we plan, then we seek resources, and when funding arrives, we can execute the works quickly," he stated.
The mayor recalled that this way of working has allowed for the transformation of Los Palacios over the last fifteen years. "Our goal is to have projects ready so that when new funding opportunities arise, the municipality is in a position to take advantage of them," he added.
These six projects are in addition to other technical works already underway, such as the drafting of the project for stands and changing rooms at the Rafael Curado Tejero athletics track, the Municipal Tree Guide, and the Municipal Noise Strategic Map. All of these will help continue improving infrastructure, services, and quality of life.
Direct impact on residents' daily lives
For the residents of Los Palacios, this investment in planning will translate into concrete improvements in the medium term. The Pumptrack will offer a new leisure option for young people, while the park “A tu Vera” will be a meeting point for all ages. The roundabout at the northern access will streamline traffic and provide a better entrance image to the municipality.
The accessibility plan will allow people with reduced mobility to move more easily through the streets, and the energy assessment will reduce the consumption of public buildings, leading to savings on municipal bills. The emergency plans, in turn, will strengthen safety in risky situations.
The Town Hall expects all projects to be drafted throughout 2026, so they can be submitted for the next calls for European, regional, or provincial funds. Once funding is obtained, works could begin in 2027, according to municipal estimates.
"Planning is one of the most important tools for good public management. Before a resident sees a completed work, there is significant technical work that usually goes unnoticed," concluded the mayor.
