Los Palacios and Villafranca celebrated yesterday the feast of Our Lady of the Snows with a massive procession that traversed the streets of the municipality. The Archbishop of Seville presided over the main mass at Santa María la Blanca.
The Sevillian town of Los Palacios and Villafranca experienced yesterday, August 5th, one of its most significant days of the year with the feast of its patron saint, Our Lady of the Snows. Thousands of locals and visitors participated in the religious events and the procession that went through the main streets of the municipality.
The day began in the morning at the Parish of Santa María la Blanca with the Principal Function of the Institute, presided over by the Archbishop of Seville, José Ángel Saiz Meneses, and co-celebrated by the local clergy. The Choir of Los Palacios provided the musical accompaniment to a ceremony that gathered numerous faithful.
In the afternoon, the procession took to the streets accompanied by a crowd. The procession included the Municipal Corporation, led by the mayor, Juan Manuel Valle; the Superior Council of Brotherhoods and Associations; representatives of brotherhoods and religious associations; the Pastoral Councils; the local clergy; and numerous devotees carrying candles and women dressed in traditional mantillas.
The float of the patron saint, who holds the title of Honorary and Perpetual Mayor of the Villa, showcased a floral arrangement created by Juan Guisado, composed of stalks of lilies, Vendela roses, white ard solomio, and freesias. A detail that enhanced the solemnity of the procession.
During the afternoon, the Governing Board of the Brotherhood of the Coronated Snows announced the appointment of Luis Lucas Romero as the Herald of the Patronal Festivals of 2027. An announcement that was met with satisfaction by those present.
The mayor, Juan Manuel Valle, highlighted the atmosphere: "Los Palacios and Villafranca has once again demonstrated the immense affection and deep devotion it feels for its patron saint. It is a day that is part of our identity as a people and that, year after year, brings together thousands of locals around our traditions and a religious and cultural heritage that we must continue to preserve."
Valle also thanked "the work of the Brotherhood of the Coronated Snows, all the volunteers, the security forces, Civil Protection, municipal services, and everyone who made it possible for a celebration of this magnitude to take place with absolute normality."
The day passed without incidents. The procession concluded around midnight with the entrance of the image into the Parish of Santa María la Blanca, surrounded by a crowd of faithful who emotionally bid farewell to their patron saint until the next festivities.
