The Town Hall of Lebrija has launched 'Soletes en la Luna', a travelling free educational leisure programme for children, young people, and families. It will take place over four evening sessions during July and August in different parks around the city.

The delegate for Childhood and Education, María Paula García, presented the initiative on Tuesday, which aims to transform squares and playgrounds in Lebrija into spaces for community and play during the summer. The programme, named 'Soletes en la Luna', will offer playful, educational, and participatory activities over four evenings, coinciding with different lunar phases.

Four themed sessions with the moon as the guiding thread

The first event will be on 16 July at the Blas Infante Children's Park, on Enrique Granados Street, under the slogan 'Crescent Moon'. The next, on 23 July, will take place at the park next to CEIP Josefa Gavala, on Avenida Miguel de Unamuno, with 'Gibbous Crescent Moon'. In August, on 6th, the programme will move to the Bulevar Children's Park, on Avenida Océano Atlántico, with 'Waning Quarter', and will conclude on 20 August at the Plaza May Children's Park, in Plaza Andrés García Alcón, with 'Waxing Quarter'. All activities will take place from 20:30 to 22:30 hours.

Inclusive and free leisure for all ages

The programme is primarily aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years, although there is also space for young people aged 13 to 16 and entire families. Attendance is free and open until capacity is reached. As García explained, the aim is to “bring quality activities to all corners of Lebrija, promoting equal opportunities in access to educational leisure.”

“We continue to develop actions aimed at children and families, bringing quality activities to the neighbourhoods and encouraging public spaces to become places of meeting, coexistence, and participation during the summer,” highlighted the delegate.

Traditional games and healthy habits

Among the programme's objectives are to encourage community participation, promote healthy lifestyles through play and physical activity, and revive traditional games adapted to the present day. The initiative also aims to energise neighbourhood life during a time of year when the offer of educational leisure usually decreases.

For the residents of Lebrija, 'Soletes en la Luna' represents an opportunity to enjoy public space in the evening, when temperatures are more pleasant. Families can attend without prior registration and participate in workshops, games, and group dynamics.

With this proposal, the Town Hall of Lebrija is committed to an inclusive and participatory leisure model that also reinforces values such as cooperation, respect, creativity, and teamwork. The next event, on 16 July, promises to be the first of many gatherings under the moonlight.
