National and Andalusian representatives of COAG met this Thursday in Lebrija with the Town Hall and the B-XII Irrigation Community to address the challenges of the agricultural sector.
Representatives from the Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Agricultores y Ganaderos (COAG) at both national and regional levels visited Lebrija and the B-XII Irrigation Community on Thursday, August 13. The meeting served to gain firsthand insight into the realities of the agricultural sector, address its main challenges, and analyse the future prospects of an activity that the Town Hall considers key to the economic and social development of the municipality.
The delegation was led by Andrés Góngora, the new state secretary general of COAG, and Juan Luis Ávila, secretary general of COAG Andalucía. They were accompanied by Antonio Rodríguez, secretary of Organisation of COAG Andalucía; Clara Torreblanca, from COAG Andalucía Youth; Miguel Pérez Aguilar, head of Institutional Relations of COAG Andalucía; and Sebastián González, provincial secretary of COAG Sevilla.
From the Town Hall of Lebrija, the first deputy mayor, David Pérez, and the sixth deputy mayor, Antonio Marchal, attended along with other members of the municipal corporation. The local government aimed to demonstrate its commitment to a strategic sector for the present and future of Lebrija.
During the visit, various issues of interest to the agricultural sector were discussed, highlighting the importance of irrigation infrastructure, especially the B-XII Irrigation Community, which is considered a fundamental element for the development of agricultural activity in the municipality.
Agriculture is the economic activity that generates the most employment and wealth in Lebrija, playing an essential role in the local economy and in maintaining numerous activities directly and indirectly linked to the sector. Therefore, the municipal government considers it a priority to continue supporting farmers and defending the needs of the sector before the various administrations.
The meeting is part of a series of contacts that COAG is maintaining in different producing areas of Andalusia, aiming to gather the sector's demands and convey them to the competent administrations.
