Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sánchez suffers a muscle injury in his left quadriceps, preventing him from participating in the first friendly of the summer against KS Cracovia. The club is awaiting a potential €15 million offer from Atalanta.

The Sevilla FC alarm bells rang on Tuesday after it was revealed that Juanlu Sánchez could not complete the morning training session at the training ground due to a muscle injury in his left quadriceps. The academy graduate, one of the most promising players from the Nervion youth system, will undergo tests in the coming days to determine the exact extent of the injury and the recovery timeline.

The medical report, leaked by club sources, confirms that it is a muscle injury that will require the coaching staff to adjust the training loads. Meanwhile, the board is closely monitoring Atalanta's interest, which is considering making a €15 million offer for the full-back. The injury does not seem to have cooled the Italian club's interest, which continues to monitor his progress.

A setback in the midst of pre-season

Juanlu's injury comes at the worst possible time, just as the team prepares for its first pre-season test in Cracovia. The friendly match against KS Cracovia, scheduled for Sunday at 16:00, will serve for Luis García Plaza to evaluate the initial tactical ideas and the physical response of the group.

The Sevilla coach divided the morning session into small groups to maintain competitive rhythm, while in the afternoon the team will train again with a session focused on rhythm, possession, and defensive adjustments. Juanlu's absence will require a reshuffle of the starting eleven, with alternatives such as Jesús Navas or Marcos Acuña himself being converted to right-back, although all signs point to the academy graduate being the natural replacement unless a convincing offer arrives.

Outgoing operations: financial relief on the way

While Juanlu's injury is the focus, the club continues to work on the departures of several players to free up wage bills and generate funds. Akor Adams remains on the market, with active discussions to finalize his move to various leagues. The Nigerian forward is not in the coach's plans, and his departure would save a significant salary.

Closer to leaving is Tanguy Nianzou. The French defender has passed the medical examination with Lille and is one step away from signing his new contract. The operation will result in savings of over four million euros in salary and amortization, providing financial relief for the club's coffers. Meanwhile, Oso continues to be a target for Nottingham Forest, which has shown increasing interest in recent hours. Sevilla prioritizes his renewal but will listen to offers close to fifteen million.

With pre-season underway and the transfer market open, Sevilla faces the coming weeks with uncertainty over whether Juanlu will continue wearing the white and red shirt or if Atalanta will ultimately make a move for him. In the meantime, on Sunday in Cracovia, the team must prove they are ready to compete.
