The Town Hall of Tomares and the Business Circle (CIRE) have signed a new collaboration agreement to strengthen support for businesses, shops, self-employed individuals, and entrepreneurs in the municipality.

The mayor of Tomares, José María Soriano, and the president of CIRE, María Ángeles Ponferrada, have formalised an agreement aimed at pooling resources to boost local economic activity. The agreement, framed within the municipal economic development strategy, seeks to defend the interests of the business community and promote job creation in the municipality.

“We have signed a collaboration agreement with CIRE, thus combining efforts and resources to support our business and commercial fabric,” the mayor stated. The agreement comes at a crucial time for small businesses, which are facing competition from large retail chains and online commerce.

Advisory services for new business projects

Under the agreement, the Town Hall will provide CIRE with the infrastructure and necessary material resources to carry out information and advisory tasks for business projects that establish themselves in Tomares. The collaboration also includes measures to enhance the promotion and competitiveness of the municipality's Open Commercial Centre.

For residents wishing to start a business, the agreement represents a direct support: they will be able to receive guidance on procedures, grants, and the viability of their business ideas without having to leave the municipality. “It is a service that brings the administration closer to the citizen,” municipal sources explain.

Training and access to financing

The Town Hall and CIRE will also work on a local strategy of “smart specialisation.” The aim will be to promote research and encourage competitive and differentiating products and services. The agreement also includes the development of ongoing training actions aimed at improving the productivity of businesses in Tomares.

Additionally, both institutions will inform the business community about possible grants, promotion lines, and financing options available for projects already underway in the locality. “We want no entrepreneur to be left without options due to lack of information,” the president of CIRE indicated.

The agreement, which renews the collaboration initiated in previous years, will have an initial duration of one year with the possibility of extension. Those interested in learning about the available services can visit the CIRE headquarters or consult the municipal website. In a context of economic uncertainty, such agreements become a safety net for local commerce.
