The municipal newspaper 'La Voz de Tomares' is now available in its edition for June, July, and August 2026. It includes the poster for the 51st Flamenco Festival 'Ciudad de Tomares', Thursdays at the Beach, and improvement works in schools.

The Town Hall of Tomares has made issue 170 of the municipal newspaper 'La Voz de Tomares' available to residents, corresponding to the months of June, July, and August 2026. The publication, which can now be downloaded in PDF format or collected at the entrance of the Town Hall, opens with the major attractions of the summer in Tomares: Thursdays at the Beach, the 51st Flamenco Festival 'Ciudad de Tomares', and the Pavías nights in the Jardines del Conde.

A summer full of plans for the people of Tomares

The new issue dedicates a prominent space to the 51st Flamenco Festival 'Ciudad de Tomares', which will take place on Saturday, July 25 at 10 PM. This year, the event will be dedicated to the Centenary of the 2nd Golden Key of Cante awarded to Manuel Vallejo and will feature a luxury lineup of artists who have received the highest distinction at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla: María Terremoto, Pedro El Granaíno, José Valencia, Angelita Montoya, Fernando Cortés 'El Lele', and Águeda Saavedra. The festival, described as a 'Festival of Giraldillos', promises to be an unmissable event for flamenco lovers.

Additionally, residents will be able to enjoy the Thursdays at the Beach, which this year will take Tomares residents to Punta Umbría every Thursday in July and August. An initiative that facilitates access to the coast during the hot months and has become a summer tradition in the municipality.

For summer nights, the Sacramental Brotherhood organizes the Pavías on Fridays and Saturdays in the Jardines del Conde, an outdoor space where residents and visitors can enjoy evenings in the fresh air. And for film lovers, the Summer Cinema returns every Tuesday in July and August.

Work-life balance, sports, and culture for all ages

The newspaper also covers municipal initiatives to help families balance during the school holidays. A total of 26 Summer Camps have been launched, distributed across eleven Campus Innova Kids, eleven Campus Innova Teens, and four sports camps, in addition to 6 Municipal Sports Schools (EDM) for Summer. This offer allows children and young people to enjoy the summer while their parents can work with peace of mind.

In the sports field, the activity of Rafting in Benamegí, scheduled for July 18, stands out, along with the success of the Sun Set Festival, which has already taken place. Additionally, the Town Hall has honoured numerous Tomares athletes from the Municipal Sports Schools who have triumphed at the regional, national, and international levels in receptions with the mayor José María Soriano.

Culture also has its space: the newspaper highlights the talent of residents who have participated in the Municipal Culture Workshops 2025-26, the activities of the Polifónica Tomares, and the story of Alejandro Domínguez Mendoza, a 15-year-old who will seek his dream of becoming a professional dancer in Miami. Furthermore, the writer José María García González has published a new book titled 'The Secret of Madama Butterfly'.

Urban improvements and health campaigns for the summer

Issue 170 reports on the actions taken by the Town Hall to maintain public spaces in good condition. Among them, the construction of the ninth smart pedestrian crossing on Estacada Street in Ochuela, the renewal of sidewalks, repainting of traffic signs, maintenance of landscaping, and removal of graffiti. Campaigns for pest control and rodent control have also been carried out, as well as treatment of orange trees against whitefly.

With the arrival of heat, the Town Hall has launched the Heat Campaign, which includes advice on protecting residents' health and periodic monitoring of elderly people living alone or who are dependent, carried out by the Local Police. Additionally, a Preventive Campaign against the West Nile Virus has been activated, a measure that is particularly relevant in the province of Seville.

In terms of employment, the Town Hall offers new courses for unemployed residents in July and September, aimed at facilitating job placement and acquiring digital skills. Information is also provided about the Awards Gala for Entrepreneurship and Women's Leadership, recently held in Tomares.

The newspaper concludes with the summer agenda: Summer Futsal Tournament from July 13 to 16, 51st Flamenco Festival on July 25, Velá del Camino Viejo from July 31 to August 2, Tomares Fair from September 2 to 6, and II International Blues Festival of Tomares on September 19. Residents can download issue 170 in PDF from the municipal website or collect it at the Town Hall.
