The Ministry of Transport begins lane closures on the A-66 and SE-30 in Camas and Santiponce this Sunday, July 5, for road rehabilitation, with an investment of €6.4 million. The works will continue throughout the summer.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is launching a plan for road rehabilitation works on the SE-30, A-66, and N-630 in the province of Seville starting this Sunday, July 5. The total investment amounts to €6.4 million (including VAT), and the works will extend through July, August, and September, according to the department led by the minister.

Sections affected by the works on the A-66 and SE-30

The actions focus on several key points of the road network in the metropolitan area of Seville. Specifically, work will be carried out on the section of the SE-30 between kilometres 17.6 and 22.45, which surrounds Camas and connects to the island of Cartuja. Work will also be done on the A-66, between kilometres 808 and 810, as it passes through the municipalities of Santiponce and Camas.

Additionally, two sections of the N-630 will be rehabilitated: between kilometres 808 and 810, near Santiponce, and between kilometres 813.1 and 814.9, over the Guadalquivir River up to Triana. These works aim to improve road safety and the comfort of drivers who use these routes daily.

Planned closures and diversions from Sunday, July 5

To ensure the safety of workers and users, from this Sunday, July 5, until Friday, July 10, the right lane of the A-66 will be closed between kilometres 809 and 810, heading towards Seville. Additionally, the exit towards Camas north will be closed in the same direction.

Drivers needing to access the town of Camas should take the next exit, number 17c of the SE-30 motorway. It is recommended to plan trips in advance and pay attention to the temporary signage.

For residents of Camas and Santiponce, these closures will cause temporary inconveniences, but the ministry assures that the works are necessary to ensure the road surface is in optimal condition. The works have been scheduled in summer to take advantage of lower traffic, although the area remains a regular transit point for those travelling to Seville or the northern sierra.

Million-euro investment to renew the asphalt

The budget of €6.4 million includes the surface rehabilitation of the road in the indicated sections, using milling techniques and replacement of asphalt aggregate. This is a common operation on high-capacity roads that experience significant wear due to heavy traffic.

Sources from the Ministry of Transport have indicated that the works will be carried out in phases to minimize traffic disruptions. However, new temporary closures are expected in the coming months, which will be communicated in advance. Drivers can check the status of the roads on the DGT website or through information panels.

These works are in addition to other conservation actions the ministry has planned in the province of Seville during the summer, aiming to maintain the road network in safe conditions before the expected increase in travel during the August holidays.
