A fire declared this Friday near the Carambolo hill has forced the evacuation of twenty homes in Camas. Four fire stations and Infoca personnel are working on extinguishing it.
The fire, declared around 4:00 PM, originated in a scrub area close to the well-known Carambolo hill, in the municipality of Camas. Firefighters from four fire stations of the Provincial Consortium of Seville, as well as 10 personnel from the Infoca Plan and two aerial units, have been dispatched to the site, according to the fire response team.
Evacuations and housing alternatives
The Camas City Council has confirmed that twenty homes have been evacuated as a precaution. Residents have been informed of a municipal housing alternative, although most have opted to stay with family members, according to municipal sources.
Several members of the municipal corporation have gone to the area to coordinate assistance and provide support to the affected residents. So far, no personal injuries have been reported.
Extinguishing efforts underway
The extinguishing efforts are focused on preventing the flames from spreading to the urban core. The Infoca has deployed ground and aerial resources, and firefighters are working on the perimeter of the fire. The situation is evolving positively, although the weather conditions, with high temperatures and wind, complicate the efforts.
The City Council advises residents in the area to stay alert to the instructions from emergency services and avoid approaching the affected area. An information hotline has been set up for those evacuated.
Context of fires in the province
This fire adds to other fires recorded in recent days in the province of Seville, although authorities have not confirmed any connection between them. The Infoca Plan reminds everyone of the importance of taking precautions in the countryside and avoiding any activity that could generate sparks or flames.
Residents of Camas, especially those living near the Carambolo hill, have expressed concern about the frequency of these incidents in summer. The rapid response of emergency services has prevented more serious consequences.
For now, the cause of the fire has not been determined, although no hypothesis is ruled out. The investigation is in the hands of Environmental agents and Seprona.
