Mayor José Luis Sanz has presented the Habitat Plan in Sevilla Este, a programme that will allocate €2,980,923 to the renovation of 20 Emvisesa buildings, benefiting 2,071 homes distributed across seven areas of the city.

The Seville City Council has launched the Habitat Plan, a public housing renovation programme that will involve an investment of €2,980,923. The announcement was made by Mayor José Luis Sanz at the M.C.1.2 promotion in Sevilla Este, one of the 20 Emvisesa buildings that will undergo improvements.

An Investment that Will Transform 2,071 Homes

The plan affects a total of 2,071 homes distributed across seven areas of the capital of Seville. The actions include the renewal of elevators, improvement of accessibility, increase of energy efficiency, reinforcement of security, and modernisation of common facilities. Each promotion will receive interventions designed after an individual technical analysis.

“We are not just talking about construction. We are talking about renewing elevators, improving accessibility, increasing energy efficiency, reinforcing security, modernising facilities, and enhancing garages and common areas,” Sanz pointed out during the presentation. The mayor emphasised that the plan aims to “care for public heritage” and ensure the quality of life for tenants.

Collaboration with Neighbours and Administrators

The mayor thanked the collaboration of community presidents, property managers, and tenants, as many of the actions respond to needs they have communicated over the years. “I know that many neighbours have been caring for this building for years and have been making proposals to continue improving it. Today we want to tell them that this effort is being acknowledged,” he stated.

For residents of Sevilla Este, one of the most populated areas of the city, the plan will mean tangible improvements in their daily lives: more modern elevators, barrier-free access, and energy-efficient buildings. The works are set to begin in the coming months, as confirmed by the City Council.

A Plan Within a Broader Strategy

The Habitat Plan is part of a municipal strategy that, according to Sanz, has already launched over 2,200 new protected homes through Emvisesa. “Seville is experiencing the largest boost in public housing in decades,” he highlighted. However, the mayor insisted that housing policy “does not end when a key is handed over. On the contrary, that marks the beginning of a new responsibility.”

Residents of the promotions included in the plan can check the schedule of actions on the Emvisesa website. The works will be carried out in phases, prioritising those buildings with the most urgent needs. The City Council expects the first interventions to begin before the end of the year.
