The City Council of Seville, through Emasesa, has invested €597,094 in renewing the supply and sanitation networks of Ciudad de Ronda street, in the Southern district. This action is part of other improvements in the area that total €1,618,290.

The renovation works of the supply and sanitation networks on Ciudad de Ronda street, in Prado de San Sebastián, are progressing well since they began on June 8. With a budget of €597,094 and an execution period of four months, the works are being carried out without supply interruptions for residents thanks to the installation of auxiliary networks.

The Urban Planning delegate and Emasesa councillor, Juan de la Rosa, has emphasised that these works “represent a firm commitment to modernising infrastructures that have not been renewed for decades, which will translate into a real and tangible improvement in the quality of service for the residents of Prado de San Sebastián.” The action includes the replacement of valves, connections, inspection wells, and drains, as well as the installation of new supply networks in the perpendicular streets Infante don Carlos de Borbón and Infanta Luisa de Orleans.

Two phases to minimise disruption to traffic and pedestrians

To reduce inconvenience to residents and businesses, the work has been planned in two phases. In the first phase, currently underway, traffic has been cut on Ciudad de Ronda street while the streets Infante don Carlos de Borbón and Infanta Luisa de Orleans remain open. In the second phase, these two latter streets will be closed to install the new supply network, while Ciudad de Ronda will remain open to traffic.

At all times, pedestrian access has been guaranteed through walkways to homes and businesses. De la Rosa highlighted that “the government of José Luis Sanz continues to work to ensure that necessary works in the city are carried out with maximum guarantees and minimal impact on the daily lives of residents and businesses in the area.”

Over €1.6 million in the area: children's park, blue zone, and pavements

These works are part of other initiatives promoted by the City Council in the past year in Prado de San Sebastián, totalling an investment of €1,618,290. The most notable is the Ciudad de los Niños, a new children's park of 1,164 square metres that has already completed its first phase, costing €921,196. The space is themed around Seville's festive identity, with three areas dedicated to the old Fair Walkway, the Fair booths, and Holy Week. As a central element, it features a structure inspired by the historic Fair Walkway, measuring up to 34 by 34 metres and 15 metres in maximum height, which was located at the end of San Fernando street between 1896 and 1921.

The park includes elevated play areas, accessible paths, and zones for different ages, and will have natural shade thanks to the planting of 16 hibiscus specimens. It is expected to have three more phases to complete the transformation of the children's area. Additionally, at the request of residents, the City Council incorporated new streets into the regulated parking service (blue zone) in January, such as Avenida de Portugal, Avenida de la Borbolla, Diego de Riaño, Ciudad de Ronda, Infante Carlos de Borbón, and Infanta Luisa de Orleans. Finally, €100,000 was invested in the complete renovation of the pavements on Fernando Villalón, Antonio Cortés Lladó streets, and a section of Alfonso de Cossío, improving safety and pedestrian accessibility in an area with decades of age.

For the residents of the Southern district, these actions represent a tangible improvement in their daily lives: fewer water cuts, safer pavements, and a new children's park where the little ones can play. The works on Ciudad de Ronda will be completed in October, and the second phase of Ciudad de los Niños is expected to begin in the coming months.
