The delegate for Educational Development, Miguel Ángel Araúz, has visited IES Cantely in Dos Hermanas to supervise the improvements made, which include climate control, digital equipment, and repairs.

IES Cantely in Dos Hermanas has become an example of the Junta de Andalucía's commitment to educational modernisation. The territorial delegate for Educational Development, Miguel Ángel Araúz, visited the centre to check the results of the investments, which total 261,731 euros. The visit included a tour of the facilities and a meeting with the management team.

Climate control for all classrooms

One of the most notable actions has been the installation of split-type heating and cooling units in almost all classrooms. This measure, funded with 27,738 euros from the Thermal Comfort Funds, aims to improve environmental conditions throughout the year. Students and teachers are already noticing the difference on extremely hot or cold days.

The investment in thermal comfort is just part of the plan. Through the 'Improve Your Centre' programme, the institute has received 25,000 euros to address urgent conservation and maintenance needs. With this money, the fencing of the sports courts has been reinforced, the toilets' doors have been replaced, and damage caused by rainwater leaks has been repaired.

Digitalisation: screens, 3D printers, and virtual reality glasses

Digital transformation has been another key area of investment. IES Cantely has received 106,992.63 euros for technological equipment. The centre has incorporated interactive digital screens, laptops, 3D printers, virtual reality glasses, and radio equipment. These resources enrich the teaching-learning process and promote digital competence among students and teachers.

According to the delegate, digitalisation is crucial for preparing students for an increasingly technological world.

“Investing in centres is investing in the quality of education, in the well-being of students and teachers, and in better conditions for learning,” Araúz emphasised.

Roof waterproofing starts next week

But the improvements do not stop here. Next week, work will begin on waterproofing the institute's roofs, an intervention promoted by the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE) valued at over 100,000 euros. The aim is to address the damage caused by recent rains and strengthen the building's protection.

For the residents of Dos Hermanas, this news is a relief. IES Cantely is a centre widely used by families in the area, and improvements in infrastructure and equipment directly impact the educational quality their children receive. Furthermore, the total investment of 261,731 euros demonstrates a continuous commitment to public education.

In total, the actions have involved an investment of 261,731 euros, a figure that, according to the Junta, reflects the effort to modernise educational infrastructures and provide safer, more comfortable, and innovative learning spaces. The waterproofing work will begin next week, with an estimated execution timeline to be communicated to families through the centre.
