The City Council of Lebrija has incorporated five electric tricycles and five battery blowers to improve street cleaning, a €28,675 investment subsidised by the Sevilla Provincial Council.

The San Benito Park in Lebrija was the chosen venue this Monday to present the new cleaning fleet of the municipality. The City Maintenance and Public Services delegate, Antonio Manuel Caro, showcased the five electric tricycles and five battery blowers that will now traverse the streets of the town.

The total investment amounts to €28,675, fully funded by a grant from the Sevilla Provincial Council. The goal is clear: to modernise the service, reduce emissions, and make life easier for the workers.

More agility and less noise on the streets of Lebrija

The electric tricycles, costing €12,575, will allow workers to move around the urban area without relying on conventional vehicles. They are ideal for narrow streets and pedestrian areas where traditional carts face difficulties. Being fully electric, they eliminate CO₂ emissions and reduce ambient noise.

The blowers, awarded for €16,100, also operate on battery. They will support mechanical sweepers and manual sweeping in parks, gardens, and sidewalks. Their low noise level improves working conditions for staff and the rest of the residents.

Antonio Manuel Caro highlighted that these pieces of equipment pursue several objectives: to renew the fleet with clean technology, reduce the carbon footprint, decrease noise pollution, and facilitate access to complicated areas. "We gain in efficiency and quality of life," he noted.

A hydro-cleaning vehicle will arrive in the coming months

The delegate announced that, within the same line of aid from the Provincial Council, the City Council will soon receive a vehicle with a high-pressure electric hydro-cleaning system. This reinforcement will help maintain the public spaces of the municipality in better condition.

The grant, managed by the Area of Supramunicipal Public Services, has been awarded on a non-competitive basis to all municipalities in the province except for the capital. Lebrija has been one of the first to realise the investment.

Residents will notice the change especially in pedestrian areas and parks, where manual sweeping was heavier and noisier. With the new electric blowers, the service will be faster and quieter. And the tricycles will allow workers to cover more ground in less time.

"It is another step towards a more sustainable and liveable city," concluded Caro. The expectation is that the hydro-cleaning vehicle will be operational before the end of the year.
