The City Council of Seville, through Emasesa, is carrying out the renewal of the supply and sanitation networks on Ciudad de Ronda street and two adjacent roads. The works, with a budget of 597,094 euros, began on June 8 and will last four months.
The renovation works of the supply and sanitation networks on Ciudad de Ronda street, one of the main roads in Prado de San Sebastián, are progressing according to the planned schedule. The City Council of Seville, through the metropolitan company Emasesa, has confirmed that the works are being carried out without interruptions to the water supply for residents, thanks to the installation of temporary auxiliary networks.
The budget allocated to this action amounts to 597,094 euros, and the execution period is four months from the start, on June 8. The intervention not only affects Ciudad de Ronda street but also the perpendicular streets Infante Don Carlos de Borbón and Infanta Luisa de Orleans, where a new supply network will be installed.
A comprehensive renewal for obsolete infrastructures
The delegate for Urbanism and Emasesa councillor, Juan de la Rosa, has stated that these works “represent a firm commitment to modernise infrastructures that have not been renewed for decades.” The action includes the replacement of all valves, connections, and necessary equipment for the proper functioning of the new supply network, as well as the inspection wells, drains, and connections of the sanitation network.
To minimise inconvenience to residents and businesses, the work has been divided into two phases. In the first phase, already underway, all traffic has been completely cut off on Ciudad de Ronda street, while Infante Don Carlos de Borbón and Infanta Luisa de Orleans streets remain open. In the second phase, these last two streets will be closed to traffic to install the new supply network, at which point Ciudad de Ronda will reopen. At all times, pedestrian traffic has been guaranteed through access walkways to the entrances of homes and businesses.
Over 1.6 million investment in the Prado area
These works are in addition to other municipal actions in the Prado de San Sebastián area, which have involved a total investment of 1,618,290 euros in the past year. The most notable is the recent opening of the first phase of the City of Children, a new themed playground that has cost 921,196.11 euros and occupies 1,164 square metres.
The park, which pays tribute to Seville's festive identity, is divided into three areas: the old Fair Walkway, the fair booths, and Holy Week. Its central element is a structure inspired by the historic Fair Walkway, which was the entrance to the April Fair between 1896 and 1921, measuring 34x34 metres and 15 metres in maximum height. The play area includes options at height, at ground level, accessible pathways, and spaces for different ages, as well as natural shade thanks to the planting of 16 hibiscus specimens. The City of Children will continue with three more phases.
For the residents of Prado de San Sebastián and regular users of Ciudad de Ronda street, the inconveniences will be temporary but necessary. The expectation is that the main road will reopen to traffic once the first phase is completed, while the side streets will be closed during the second. The City Council recommends planning alternative routes and reminds that businesses and homes remain accessible on foot.
