The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal organisation specialised in burglaries at hospitality establishments in seven Seville towns and one in Córdoba.

The Civil Guard has arrested four individuals as the alleged perpetrators of a dozen robberies in bars and hospitality establishments in the provinces of Seville and Córdoba. The operation, carried out by the Sanlúcar la Mayor Company, has dismantled a travelling group that acted quickly and violently, using power tools to force open protective grilles.

The assaults took place in Benacazón, Sanlúcar la Mayor, Olivares, La Puebla del Río, Alcalá del Río, Mairena del Alcor, and Herrera, as well as in the Córdoba town of Puente Genil. In all cases, the criminals took the earnings from the gaming machines and tobacco vending machines.

A getaway vehicle and several nights of assaults

According to the Armed Institute, the thieves used a fast getaway vehicle that has been seized during the operations. In a single night, they managed to rob several establishments in different towns, demonstrating remarkable planning and coordination.

The investigation, which has benefited from citizen collaboration and witness testimonies, has allowed for the identification of the entire group. Two of the detainees, including the leader of the organisation, have been remanded in custody without bail after being brought before the courts.

Coordinated operation across several towns

The dismantling of this criminal network has been made possible thanks to a coordinated operation among the different affected towns. Members of the Civil Guard from Sanlúcar la Mayor, Alcalá del Río, and Puente Genil participated, as well as units from the National Police and Local Police from Seville, Sanlúcar la Mayor, and Castilleja de la Cuesta.

For the residents of the affected municipalities, the news comes as a relief, as the criminal activity generated insecurity among hospitality owners, who saw their businesses repeatedly targeted by these thieves. The Civil Guard recommends reinforcing security measures, especially in establishments that have gaming machines.

The operation remains open to determine if the group could be implicated in more robberies in other provinces. For now, the four detainees remain in custody awaiting trial.
