The programme from the Local Police and Social Welfare celebrates a decade. The mayor and the police chief have visited some beneficiaries.

The programme for monitoring elderly people living alone in Castilleja de la Cuesta has reached its ten-year milestone. To celebrate, the mayor, Carmen Herrera, the delegate for Social Welfare, Cayetana Rodríguez, and the chief of the Local Police, Miguel Ángel Hidalgo, have visited some of the beneficiaries in recent days.

The initiative, which started at the beginning of the month, is the result of collaboration between the Local Police and the Social Welfare Delegation. The officers make regular phone calls and home visits to check on the health status of the elderly and provide them with practical advice.

Among the recommendations conveyed by the officers are those related to home security, hydration, and protection against heat. The programme has been running every summer for the past decade, as noted by the Town Hall of Castilleja de la Cuesta.

The institutional visit has served to highlight a task that, in the words of the Council, is essential for the elderly in the municipality. The monitoring will continue during the summer months, with special attention to the hottest days.

Residents who want more information about this service can contact the Social Welfare Delegation or the Local Police of Castilleja de la Cuesta.
