The courtyard of the Church of La Asunción hosted the presentation of the poster announcing the patron saint festivities of Estepa, a work by Mariola Jordán Fernández that marks the beginning of the August celebrations.

The night of 17th July 2026 will be marked on the festive calendar of Estepa. The courtyard of the Church of La Asunción was the chosen venue for the presentation of the poster that will announce the patron saint festivities in honour of the Virgin of the Asunción, a tradition that brings together thousands of locals every August.

An event with institutional and brotherhood representation

The evening was hosted by Carlos Javier Gálvez Quirós and featured a strong representation from the social and religious life of the town. Attendees included the mayor of Estepa, Antonio Jesús Muñoz Quirós; the elder brother of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Asunción, Joaquín Amador Mateos; the parish vicar, David Larrea Eslorza; and the president of the General Council of Brotherhoods and Cofradías of Estepa, Antonio Vicente Bustos Cabello, among other members of the Municipal Corporation.

The councillor for Culture, Ascensión Castillo, was also present, emphasising the Town Hall's support for one of the most emblematic events in the Estepa calendar.

Mariola Jordán, author of the poster

The star of the night was the artist Mariola Jordán Fernández, the creator of the announcing poster. She, along with the elder brother of the brotherhood, unveiled the work to the attendees. In her words, Jordán expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her to capture, through her creation, the devotion that Estepa has for its patroness.

The poster, which can now be seen in the church, will be the image accompanying the events leading up to and during the August festivities. The author has managed to capture the essence of a tradition that dates back centuries, combining symbolic and religious elements that resonate with the locals.

Music and solemn atmosphere

The presentation was not only a visual event but also a sonic one. Pianist Francisco Javier Sojo Blanco performed several musical pieces on the piano, creating an atmosphere of special solemnity and emotion. The musical notes accompanied each moment, from the unveiling of the poster to the speeches, giving the evening a unique character.

For the attendees, the combination of music and art provided a perfect starting signal for the worship and celebrations that every August gather the people of Estepa around the Virgin of the Asunción.

A tradition that unites Estepa

The Town Hall of Estepa has wished to congratulate both the author and the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Asunción for organising this event. In the words of the mayor, such initiatives contribute to enhancing one of the most deeply rooted religious and cultural traditions of the city.

The Asunción 2026 poster is now a reality, and with it, the path opens towards festivities that promise to be well-attended. The people of Estepa now have an image that will remind them in the coming weeks that the big event in August is getting closer.

The work will remain on display at the Church of La Asunción, and it is expected to be the centre of attention for the faithful and visitors who come to see it. The Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Asunción is already finalising the details of the worship programme, which will be announced in the coming days.
