A resident of Albaida del Aljarafe has lost his life after overturning the tractor he was working with on his own farm. The Town Hall has suspended all weekend events.

A 51-year-old man, owner of a farm in Albaida del Aljarafe, died on Friday after his tractor overturned while he was carrying out agricultural work. The incident, which occurred shortly after half past three in the afternoon, has shocked the Sevillian town.

According to 112, the alert was received at 15:40 from 061, which reported that a man was trapped under a tractor in a field in the municipality. Firefighters, Local Police, and Civil Guard were dispatched to the scene.

The emergency teams worked to free the man, but the medical personnel could only confirm his death. Apparently, the victim was the owner of the farm where the accident occurred.

Access Difficulties and Rescue Efforts

The Town Hall of Albaida del Aljarafe explained on its social media that the difficult access to the area complicated the rescue efforts, which required heavy machinery to remove the tractor. The Council expressed gratitude “to them and to the various security forces that intervened or offered to help” for their work in this tragic incident.

In a statement, the Council expressed its sorrow: “We are devastated by the tragic news, we deeply regret the fatal outcome, extending our sincerest condolences to all his family and loved ones, especially his wife and children.”

Suspension of Activities and Mourning in the Community

As a sign of mourning, the Town Hall has decided to suspend all planned activities for the weekend, including the celebration organized for Sunday night to watch the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. This decision reflects the impact of the accident on a small community like Albaida del Aljarafe.

The residents of the town, which has just over 3,000 inhabitants, have shown their support for the family of the deceased. The incident highlights the danger of agricultural work, especially with heavy machinery, and has reopened the debate on safety measures in the Sevillian countryside.

The Junta de Andalucía has not yet commented on the accident, but sources from the agricultural sector indicate that tractor accidents are one of the leading causes of work-related fatalities in the Andalusian countryside. According to data from the National Institute of Safety and Health at Work, 12 deaths due to tractor overturns were recorded across Spain in 2025.

The man's body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Seville for an autopsy. The Civil Guard is investigating the exact causes of the accident, although it appears to be a fortuitous overturn while he was ploughing or performing similar tasks.

The Town Hall has declared an official day of mourning and has made psychological support services available to the family. The suspended events include a popular fair and the screening of Sunday’s match, which was to gather residents in the town square.

This tragic event casts a shadow over Albaida del Aljarafe, a town in the Sevillian Aljarafe known for its production of olive oil and cereals. The deceased, according to municipal sources, was a well-known and beloved farmer in the area.
