The Velá de Santiago and Santa Ana 2026 will be held from July 21 to 26 in Triana, with preliminary activities starting from July 14. Journalist Jesús Pozuelo will be the speaker. The concerts will feature Luitingo, Cantores de Híspalis, and a flamenco festival.

Triana is all set for one of its most significant summer events. The Velá de Santiago and Santa Ana 2026 will officially kick off on July 21, although the neighbourhood will start buzzing a week earlier, from July 14, with a programme that blends tradition, music, sport, and culture. The City Council of Seville presented the complete programme on Monday, which will run until July 26 and includes new features such as the participation of journalist Jesús Pozuelo as the speaker.

Preliminary activities: exhibitions, theatre, and the procession of the Virgen del Carmen

The lead-up to the Velá will begin on July 14 with the inauguration of the photographic exhibition 'Triana and its people, portrait of a neighbourhood', by photographer Juan Romero Prieto, at the Las Columnas Civic Centre. The exhibition will be open until July 31. On the same day, the neighbourhood will start to fill with a festive atmosphere.

On July 15 and 16, the San Jacinto School will host the Corral de Comedias, with performances at 10:00 PM. A must for lovers of classical theatre in a unique setting.

On July 16, at 9:00 PM, there will be a cultural meeting 'From Passion to Velá: the shared word', at the Casa Hermandad de la Estrella. José María Rubio Rubio and José Antonio Rodríguez Benítez will participate, analysing the Holy Week of Seville in 1991 and 2026, as well as the Velá de Santa Ana in 1992 and 2017. An opportunity to learn about the evolution of these traditions.

On July 17, at 7:30 PM, the traditional Procession of the Virgen del Carmen will take place, departing from the Capilla de la Estrella towards the Guadalquivir River. A highly anticipated moment for locals, who accompany the virgin on her river journey each year.

On July 18, a petanque tournament will kick off in the Santa Ana neighbourhood from 9:00 AM, and at 7:00 PM, the plaque of the Escalerilla del Tagua will be unveiled. On July 19, from 9:00 AM, an aqualon will be held between Altozano and the Guadalquivir River. Local athletes will have their moment of glory.

Opening speech by Jesús Pozuelo and concerts: Luitingo, Cantores de Híspalis, and flamenco

The official inauguration will be on July 21. On that day, in addition to sports competitions (dominoes, beach handball, walking football for women, and futsal), journalist Jesús Pozuelo will deliver the opening speech at 10:00 PM in Altozano. Pozuelo, known for his career in Seville media, will be responsible for kicking off the festivities.

On July 22, following the conference 'Triana in painting: painting in Triana', led by Professor José Fernández López at the Triana Market, the Nocturnal Regatta of Triana will take place on the Guadalquivir River. In the evening, music will take over with a concert by Luitingo, one of the most anticipated names on the line-up.

On July 23, it will be the turn of the Cantores de Híspalis, who will perform on the main stage. The group, an institution in Seville music, promises to thrill the audience with their most famous songs. That same day, there will also be a flamenco festival featuring local artists.

July 24 will be dedicated to Trianera Women, with a concert that highlights the role of women in the culture of the neighbourhood. The musical programme will be completed with performances by local groups and DJs who will liven up the nights until July 26.

Sport, tradition, and a grand finale

The Velá is not just about music. Throughout the week, sports competitions will be held in the Parque de los Príncipes and the Altozano area. There will be tournaments of beach handball, futsal, and walking football for all ages. The traditional regatta on the river will also take place, which annually attracts a large crowd to the banks.

On July 25, the feast day of Santiago, a mass will be held in honour of the saint at the Capilla de la Estrella, followed by a procession. In the evening, concerts will continue with performances by local groups. On July 26, the feast day of Santa Ana, there will be the official closing, with a grand popular fair and fireworks over the Guadalquivir River.

For the residents of Triana, the Velá is much more than a festival: it is a hallmark of identity. As every year, the neighbourhood will be adorned, and the streets will be filled with booths, craft stalls, and typical gastronomy. Attendees will be able to enjoy pescaíto frito, espetos, and other delights at the terraces set up in Altozano and Calle Betis.

The City Council of Seville has recommended using public transport to access the neighbourhood during the busiest days, especially on the weekend. Bus lines C1, C2, 40, and 41 will reinforce their services, and the Seville Metro (Plaza de Cuba station) will be an alternative to avoid traffic jams. Residents, however, already know that the best way is to walk and be carried away by the atmosphere.
