Seville City Council has resurfaced the 20 kilometres of the Supernorte Ring Road, without intervention since 1992. The final investment has been €5.8 million.

Seville City Council has completed the comprehensive renewal of the pavement of the SE-20, the Supernorte Ring Road, a route that had gone over three decades without such an intervention. The works, carried out by the Urban Planning and Environment Management, have involved a final investment of €5.8 million and have affected 10.3 kilometres in each direction.

The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, visited the results of the works on Monday and emphasised that the action was necessary due to the condition of the surface, which presented fractures, potholes, and cracks. "We have acted on a road that has needed a comprehensive intervention since 1992 and that is now the responsibility of Seville City Council," he stated.

The works have run from the Estadio de la Cartuja, at the Carlos III exit, to the connection with the A-8008 road, which links Seville with Brenes, towards the A-4 motorway. The execution has been carried out in phases to avoid disrupting traffic and minimise inconvenience to drivers.

"This investment is not just simple resurfacing. We have comprehensively repaired a fundamental infrastructure for Seville. Road safety is a priority," Sanz added during the visit. After the resurfacing, the council will continue with the beautification of the medians and roundabouts of this key artery for the mobility of the north of the city.

The action is part of a broader plan to improve connections in northern Seville. According to the mayor, "we are preparing the infrastructures that a growing city needs and that must continue to generate new residential, business, and economic activity spaces." In the last three years, the City Council has renewed over 150 kilometres of asphalt throughout the city.
