Seville City Council will begin redevelopment works on Virgen de Fuensanta street in the Los Remedios district next Monday. The project, with a budget of nearly €70,000, includes the replacement of the pavement and the creation of six new tree pits.
Seville City Council, through the Urban Planning Management, will start the redevelopment works on Virgen de Fuensanta street on Monday, June 29, in the section between Monte Carmelo and Sebastián Elcano streets. The intervention, estimated to last two months, involves an investment of €70,000 and responds to the poor condition of the pavement, which has been deteriorating for decades.
The works include replacing the current surface with paving that matches the recently renovated Sebastián Elcano street. Additionally, six new tree pits will be created for the planting of tree species, which will be installed in the upcoming planting season. The district delegate for Los Remedios, Juan Alés, highlighted that "this new intervention is part of the municipal government's commitment to the continuous improvement of the city's basic infrastructure. Projects like this allow us to anticipate future incidents, increase the efficiency of networks, and provide better service to residents."
Alés emphasized that Los Remedios is undergoing a profound urban transformation that combines the renewal of essential infrastructure with improvements in public spaces, mobility, and accessibility. These works are in addition to other recent projects in the neighbourhood, such as the renewal of supply and sanitation networks on Juan Sebastián Elcano street (between Virgen de la Cinta and Fernando IV) and in the Glorieta de las Cigarreras. In the last three years, the district has seen interventions on Virgen del Valle, Virgen de la Fuensanta, Madre Rafols, Virgen de Todos los Santos, Virgen de la Cinta, and the surroundings of the Parish of Los Remedios, as well as the transformation of Parque de los Príncipes and the Vera Sevilla complex.
The work on Virgen de Fuensanta will replace a pavement that had numerous potholes and cracks, improving pedestrian and vehicular safety. Residents have been informed by the delegate during a recent visit. The works will take place during the day and may cause partial traffic disruptions, so alternative routes are recommended. Completion is expected by the end of August, before the start of the school year at the nearby Santa Ana school.
