The Mobility delegation of the Seville City Council has completed the installation of canopies at the taxi stand of the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, located on Torcuato Luca de Tena Street. The measure aims to provide shade for professionals in the sector and for users who daily utilise this service at one of the busiest points in the city.
The Mobility delegate, Álvaro Pimentel, explained that this action addresses a request that taxi drivers have been making for some time. He noted that the Virgen del Rocío stand is one of the busiest in terms of passenger and professional traffic throughout Seville, as it serves the most important healthcare centre in Andalusia.
The installation of the canopies is part of a series of actions that the council plans to extend to other stands in the city, as long as conditions allow. Pimentel emphasised that the measure contributes to making Seville "a more pleasant city" and supports one of the essential groups in urban mobility.
The work is already completed, and the stand is operating normally. Taxi drivers and patients visiting the hospital will be able to wait for their vehicle in the shade during the hottest months, an improvement that directly affects those who use this service daily.
The City Council has not yet specified which other stands could benefit from this initiative, although the intention is to assess its extension to other high-demand areas of the city.
