The Alzheimer Association of Lebrija has presented the poster and entry fees for its XII solidarity march, which will take place on September 25 at 20:00 from Plaza de España. The event aims to raise awareness of the disease and bring together hundreds of locals.
The Alzheimer Association of Lebrija presented this Thursday the poster and entry fees for the XII Alzheimer March, a solidarity event that will be held next Friday, September 25, starting at 20:00 from Plaza de España. The march will conclude the activities organised for World Alzheimer’s Day, which is commemorated on September 21.
The organisation has called on all citizens to participate in an event that each year becomes a meeting point for families, groups, and residents of Lebrija committed to raising awareness and supporting those affected by this disease and their loved ones.
The route, designed for all ages, is intended to be completed by children, the elderly, and those with mobility difficulties or any type of disability. In addition to promoting physical activity and family gatherings, the initiative aims to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and put those living with it at the centre.
As in previous editions, the day will feature musical entertainment and a drum parade, aiming to maintain the festive and participatory nature of an event that usually brings together hundreds of people in the streets of the town.
The entry fees will have a symbolic price of one euro, an amount that allows the association to continue improving and expanding its services, acquiring materials, enhancing facilities and equipment, and providing quality care to its users. The organisation has especially thanked its official sponsor, Pizzería Pijama, which once again covers the costs of the entry fees.
The entry fees can be purchased at the association's headquarters and at the Calcetonia establishment in Barrio Nuevo, next to the pharmacy. Additional sales points will also be set up, and there will be collaboration from schools, sports clubs, and volunteers.
The association has emphasised the involvement of educational centres in Lebrija, which last year managed to sell over 1,700 entry fees, and has thanked the students, families, and teachers for their participation. Last year, over 4,200 entry fees were sold, a figure that demonstrates the response and solidarity of the residents.
During the presentation, the delegate for Health and Seniors, María Ángeles Mena, thanked the association for the invitation and highlighted the special nature of this march, linked to World Alzheimer’s Day. In her speech, she emphasised that participating “is not just about putting on an entry fee,” but involves raising awareness of the disease, getting to know those who live with it, and conveying to them that they are not alone.
“An entry fee is a step, one person adds up, and, moreover, it matters,” the delegate stated.
Mena called on the people of Lebrija to participate alongside their families, friends, and colleagues and help fill the streets of Lebrija with solidarity. Both the association and the Town Hall of Lebrija encouraged people to purchase the entry fee and participate on September 25, starting at 20:00, in a march that will once again make solidarity and commitment to those suffering from Alzheimer’s and their families the focus of the day.
The march is open to the entire population, with no need for prior registration beyond the purchase of the entry fee, and a massive turnout is expected as in previous years.
