Noctaíra's cultural programme faces its final week in Alcalá de Guadaíra. The Castle will host two theatre performances, culminating on September 12 with the Night of San Miguel, which will feature special lighting.
The final stretch of Noctaíra arrives in Alcalá de Guadaíra with two theatrical events at the Castle and a grand finale that will bring together music, dance, flamenco, and heritage. The cycle, celebrating its tenth anniversary, concentrates its last activities between September 10 and 12.
On September 10, at 21:30 hours, the Moondays Company will present ‘Bohemia in Sevilla’; the following day, at the same time, the Viernes y Punto Company will stage ‘The Wedding Invitation’. Both performances are free until full capacity is reached.
The closing event will take place on September 12 with the Night of San Miguel, which will move to the area around the Church of the Eagle and inside the Castle. Two stages will be set up there, one in front of the temple's door and another in the apse, to host a programme starting at 21:30 hours.
One of the novelties of this edition is the special lighting of the Castle, designed to enhance its monumental spaces and transform them into unique stages. The light thus becomes an artistic element of the programme, aiming to highlight the historical heritage of Alcalá de Guadaíra from a new perspective.
The delegate for Culture and Tourism of the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council, Christopher Rivas, explained that this edition coincides with the tenth anniversary of Noctaíra and that they wanted to celebrate it in a different way:
“We wanted to celebrate it differently, bringing the programme to such emblematic spaces as the Eagle esplanade and the interior of the Castle. We want our heritage to be a living space, open to the public and capable of hosting culture, music, dance, theatre, and flamenco, while also giving significant prominence to the talent of our city.”
The night of September 12 will kick off at the Eagle esplanade with Lemon Shaker and their traditional jazz proposal, while families can enjoy Almatwins and their itinerant show ‘Magellan in the Castle’ at the Castle.
At 22:30 hours, Grand’Allegro, recently recognised with the City of Alcalá Award, will present ‘The Firebird’. In the Patio de la Sima, ‘Bioma’, the immersive sound experience by Elena Córdoba and Novia Pagana, inspired by Parque Oromana and the Guadaíra River, will take place.
The music will continue at 23:00 hours with Radio Sonora, performing songs by Radio Futura and Juan Perro. Local flamenco will have its space from 22:30 hours with ‘Vente pal Arrabal’, from Peña Flamenca El Arrabal and La Cueva de María.
Throughout the night, there will also be guided night tours of the Castle and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Eagle. The evening will thus bring together music, dance, theatre, flamenco, and heritage in one space, in line with the spirit that has characterised Noctaíra during its ten years of history.
Christopher Rivas emphasised the significance of this proposal: “Preserving our heritage does not only mean restoring it but also opening it up, illuminating it, filling it with life, and ensuring that the people of Alcalá make it their own.”
The activities are free and designed for all audiences. Access to the theatre performances in the Castle will be free until full capacity is reached, and the programme for the Night of San Miguel will take place outdoors in the monumental surroundings of the Eagle.
