The City Council has completed the works on this artery in the Cerro-Amate district, with an investment of €190,000 and 6,500 square meters renovated.
The Urban Planning Management of the City Council of Seville has announced the completion of the resurfacing of San José de Palmete Avenue, one of the main entry and exit routes of the Cerro-Amate district and the east of the city. The works have involved an investment of €190,000 and have affected 6,500 square meters of roadway.
This action is part of the summer works plan that the council is executing with a total budget of €2.2 million. According to municipal data, the completion of this road adds to the nearly 180 kilometres of streets and avenues repaved in the capital over the last three years as part of the Asphalt Improvement Plan.
The Urban Planning delegate, Juan de la Rosa, emphasised that this is a long-standing demand from local residents and the thousands of drivers who travel daily along this artery.
“We are completing works that have been highly demanded by the residents of this district, as well as by the thousands of Sevillians who transit daily through it, who have been requesting the renewal of this roadway for years. With this action, we continue to advance in making Seville a safer, more accessible, and passable city, both for drivers and pedestrians.”
The summer plan includes twenty-eight actions for the maintenance and improvement of roads in eight districts of the city. Most consist of repaving roadways and sidewalks, and are carried out in coordination with the district boards. The works affect Los Remedios, Casco Antiguo, Cerro-Amate, Bellavista-La Palmera, Triana, Nervión, San Pablo-Santa Justa, Este-Alcosa-Torreblanca, Norte, and Macarena.
The Este-Alcosa-Torreblanca district concentrates the highest number of interventions, with works on eight streets and an investment of €600,531. The roadways Fernanda Calado Rosales, Flor de Retama, Flor de Papel, Taiwan, Flor de Albahaca, and the second phase of Avenida República de China will be repaved. Additionally, sidewalks will be constructed on Éufrates and Flor de Albahaca.
In the Macarena district, six resurfacing works will be carried out on the streets Santa María del Rocío, Santa María Magdalena, Santa María de la Hiedra, Santa María de los Reyes, Santa María de Ordás, Fray Luis de Granada, and Amalia Torrijos, at a cost of €257,000. In Nervión, the works will affect Luis Montoto and Marqués de Pickman, and the renewal of Ronda del Tamarguillo will be completed with the resurfacing of Clemente Hidalgo, where a subsidence will be corrected, the bike lane will be repaired, and the entire roadway will be resurfaced. These two interventions total €282,200.
In San Pablo-Santa Justa, work will be done in the residential area of Santa Justa and in the plaza del Niño de Vallecas, with a combined budget of €282,000. In Los Remedios, the street Virgen de la Fuensanta will be repaved, between Juan Sebastián Elcano and Monte Carmelo, at a cost of €63,700, and in Triana, Ronda de Triana and López de Gómara will be renewed, and the neighbourhood Santo Ángel de la Guarda will be resurfaced for €48,680.
Juan de la Rosa has argued that these improvements are not just aesthetic but a matter of road safety, and has assured that quality materials are being used to ensure their durability. Most of the works are already underway or planned for the coming months.
