Registrations for the 2026 Christmas Decoration Competition for Facades and Balconies open following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Seville. The deadline closes on December 11, 2026. The initiative, promoted by the Alcalá del Río City Council through its Citizen Participation and Festivities departments, carries the slogan "Alcalá shines at Christmas".
Residents of Alcalá del Río, San Ignacio del Viar, Esquivel and El Viar can participate by decorating facades, balconies or both. All proposals compete in a single general category, without distinction between facade and balcony. Participation is free and each household can register only once.
The decorations must have a Christmas theme, be visible from the public road, and meet the safety conditions outlined in the regulatory bases. The application is processed through a General Application on the Electronic Headquarters of Alcalá del Río City Council, where participation in the competition must be indicated and photographs of the decoration attached.
Once the deadline has closed, the accepted decorations will be put to a public vote between 09:00 on December 12 and 23:59 on December 14, 2026. Each person may cast a single vote. The City Council will notify in advance, through its official channels, of the space or link enabled for voting. The three most voted entries will occupy the top positions in the ranking.

The prizes total 600 euros in Christmas baskets: 250 euros for first place, 200 euros for second, and 150 euros for third. The results will be published on the official social media of the City Council on December 16 and/or 17. Winners can collect their prizes on December 22, 2026, at the City Council, from 09:00 to 14:00.
