The Peña Flamenca El Arrabal and the Centro San Miguel, in collaboration with the City Council, announce the First National Flamenco Dance Competition El Arrabal, which will take place from October 2 to 24, 2026, in Alcalá de Guadaíra. Participants must be dancers aged 16 and over.
The Peña Flamenca El Arrabal and the Centro San Miguel, with the collaboration of the City Council of Alcalá de Guadaíra, have announced the First National Flamenco Dance Competition El Arrabal, which will be held from October 2 to 24, 2026 at the Centro San Miguel, located at Avenida del Águila number 16 in the town, starting at 21:00 hours.
The competition, which the Peña has been trying to organise for years, will finally take place this year. Dancers aged 16 and over will be eligible to participate.
The competition is structured in three phases. The first, a pre-selection phase, will remain open until September 24. The preliminary phase will take place on October 2 and 3, with the possibility of extending to October 9, and between 6 and 9 participants will qualify for this phase. The final will occur on October 24 with the three contestants selected by the jury as finalists.
"This Competition will undoubtedly serve as a launchpad for new talents, as well as helping to preserve the richness of flamenco art, uniting the tradition of a city like ours with one of Alcalá's main identities," expressed the Culture Delegate, Christopher Rivas.
The organisation reserves the right to modify the competition schedule. Contestants must be present at the assigned time; failure to appear will result in disqualification. Performances may be recorded in any format, and the organisation may use them for the promotion of flamenco.
