Alcalá de Guadaíra's three municipal performance spaces close the 2025/26 season with 118,000 spectators, 15,000 more than last year. The Auditorio Riberas del Guadaíra leads the figures with 89,000 attendees.
The Culture Delegation of the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has made public the audience balance for the 2025/26 season in the three municipal performance spaces: the Auditorio Riberas del Guadaíra, the Teatro Gutiérrez de Alba, and the Centro San Miguel. In total, they have recorded 118,000 spectators, which represents an increase of over 15,000 attendees compared to the previous season.
The study counts 261 shows and events held, 45 more than in the previous year. The municipal delegate for Tourism and Culture, Christopher Rivas, highlights that the growth is noticeable both in local audiences and those coming from nearby cities, which, in his words, reaffirms “the success of betting on culture with a diverse, attractive, and quality programme capable of keeping our cultural spaces alive and attracting audiences from outside.”
The Auditorio Riberas del Guadaíra, the largest venue in the area, hosted 113 events and welcomed 89,000 spectators, with an average occupancy of 79%. This is 10,000 attendees and 12 performances more than in the previous season.
The Teatro Gutiérrez de Alba, located in the old town, closed the season with over 25,000 people attending 112 events, 5,000 more than the previous year. More than half of its programming was self-produced, organised by the City Council. Among the cycles, the Muestra de Teatro Cesáreo Estébanez stands out, which this year reopened the curtain of a building constructed in the early 20th century by architect Juan Talavera.
The Centro San Miguel, in the Castillo neighbourhood, held 36 cultural events, three more than last year, with over 3,000 spectators. Rivas particularly values these numbers because the space has a capacity of fewer than 100 seats and all its programming is managed by the City Council, with a loyal audience that, according to the delegate, enjoys “the quality offering in a unique venue for its significance and location.”
The Culture head also emphasises the economic effect of this influx on the municipality: “This greater attendance also resonates in the local economy through the services and auxiliary companies of the performing arts and in the hospitality sector.”
