The works, awarded to a local company for €293,000, will last two months and will renew the subsoil and surface between Avenida Matadero and Avenida de Los Puertos.

The Avenida Matadero, Calle Curro Guillén, and Avenida San Juan Bosco are already experiencing the movement of machinery. The Utrera City Council has kicked off the renovation of La Vereda with the well-known Section 6, which extends from the junction of these three roads to the intersection with Avenida de Los Puertos and Calle Doña Marcela, next to the neighbourhood of Coca de la Piñera.

The municipal investment amounts to €293,000 and the execution period is two months. The contract has been awarded to the Utrera company Materiales y Servicios para la Construcción de Utrera, S.L., as confirmed by the City Council.

The project is not just a simple facelift. Unlike the proposal left by the previous government team, which only considered surface work, the current intervention starts with the subsoil. The water supply and sewage networks will be renewed before touching the pavement, to avoid having to lift the street again in a few years to repair pipes.

The work also includes new solutions for drainage and wells, as well as changes in the layout of the space to improve accessibility. The single platform and pedestrian transit areas will be expanded, enhancing the connection between different points in the area.

Among the planned innovations are the installation of pergolas to provide shade and the creation of a new play area. The aim is for the neighbourhood to gain space for staying, not just passing through.

The City Council is already working on the next phase, Section 5.2, which will extend the works to the intersection of Juan Domínguez with Daoiz. The transformation of La Vereda is thus progressing gradually, section by section.
