The Seville Provincial Fire Consortium has already executed 30 million euros of the Master Plan approved in 2025, highlighting the renewal of the vehicle fleet and improvements in infrastructure. 34 new vehicles have been received and the incorporation of 49 personnel is expected.
The Consortium for Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue of the Province of Seville has made significant progress on its Master Plan, approved in May 2025 with an eight-year horizon. As of June 2026, the agency has executed investments worth 30 million euros, focused on human resources, infrastructure, vehicle fleet and equipment, with the aim of modernising the service in the 54 municipalities involved.
Renewal of the vehicle fleet and new infrastructures
The largest portion corresponds to the vehicle fleet, with 18.1 million euros invested, which represents 50.93% of what was planned. Of this, 11.47 million has been allocated to the acquisition of 34 new vehicles, including aerial ladders, urban and rural fire engines, logistical units, and specialised vehicles for biological and chemical risks. Additionally, the purchase of 16 additional vehicles for 6.67 million euros is already in the bidding process.
In terms of infrastructure, 3.3 million euros have been allocated to the network of fire stations, which is 14.40% of the plan in this chapter. Renovation works at the Sanlúcar la Mayor station have already begun, and contributions have been made to equip the new stations in Carmona and Morón de la Frontera. Improvements have also been funded in 13 municipal stations. Projects for new stations in Sierra Morena, A-92, SE-40 and A-66 have been awarded, while procedures for future installations in Estepa, Utrera, Fuentes de Andalucía and Mairena del Aljarafe continue.
Strengthening the workforce and new positions
The plan also addresses the shortage of personnel. Currently, the Consortium has 229 operational professionals, but maintains 125 vacant positions. To alleviate this, the incorporation of 49 personnel from public job offers from the Seville Provincial Council is planned, while the Consortium's own offers for 2025 and 2026 total 93 positions. Furthermore, the Regulation of the Temporary Employment Pool for operational personnel has been approved, which will allow for interim coverage of up to 93 positions until the selection processes are resolved.
The Master Plan includes the creation of 498 new positions in various bodies and scales, according to the Emergency Management Law of Andalusia. Specialized areas such as Fire Prevention, Training, Inspection and Operational Planning, Occupational Risk Prevention, Logistics, and Special Groups will also be created.
A service covering 104 municipalities
The Consortium, established in 2018 and coordinating the Seville Provincial Fire System since 2022, provides service across an area covering 104 municipalities, with a population of 1,115,618 inhabitants, a surface area of 13,734 square kilometers, and 3,786 kilometers of roads. It currently has 27 fire stations in five operational areas and a fleet of 122 vehicles, excluding the municipalities of Seville and Dos Hermanas, which have their own services.
For the residents of the province, this translates into an improvement in response times and the ability to handle increasingly complex emergencies. The new aerial ladders and specialised vehicles will allow for more effective action in industrial fires, traffic accidents, or incidents involving hazardous materials. The creation of new positions, although still insufficient, aims to relieve the burden on current firefighters.
The president of the Consortium reminded that "this plan is the most ambitious since the creation of the agency" and that "every euro invested contributes to the safety of the people of Seville." However, union sources point out that vacancies remain a burden and that temporary solutions are not the definitive answer.
The next steps include the completion of works in Sanlúcar la Mayor, the bidding for new stations, and the execution of public job offers. Those interested in the employment pools can check the bases on the Consortium's website.
