The Consortium for Prevention, Fire Extinction and Rescue of the Province of Seville has hired 19 temporary firefighters to cover summer vacancies, while progressing towards the incorporation of 97 new operational positions planned for 2025 and 2026.
The fire service of the province of Seville adds 19 temporary personnel from this Tuesday. The provincial Consortium has officially announced the hiring of these temporary staff to cover vacancies that arise in summer, a time when interventions spike due to forest fires and rescues in leisure areas.
According to sources from the organization, these hires are a routine measure for personnel management, but are part of a more ambitious plan. The first Director Plan of the Consortium, approved for 2025, includes a gradual increase in the workforce to adapt to the needs of the service.
97 Positions in Two Years
The Consortium plans to permanently incorporate 97 new positions for operational staff. These correspond to the Public Employment Offers for 2025 and 2026. The General Assembly of the Consortium approved on July 13 the modification of the Job Relationship (RPT), which allows for the calling of both 41 positions for 2025 and 56 for 2026.
Additionally, the process to incorporate 48 firefighters is ongoing, with their appointment expected before the end of this year. These new personnel will join those already active, reinforcing a system that serves the 106 municipalities of the province.
Internal Promotion and Career Development
The modification of the RPT also includes measures to promote career development within the Consortium, through internal promotion processes that comply with Law 2/2023, of March 15. These actions will allow for the adaptation of bodies and scales to current regional regulations, as detailed by the Consortium.
For the firefighters of Seville, this internal promotion represents an opportunity for advancement and stability. The Consortium highlights that the strategy “combines the necessary measures to ensure immediate service coverage with the gradual incorporation of new structural personnel that will allow for continued scaling of the workforce in the coming years.”
Summer Reinforcement and Future Planning
The hiring of the 19 temporary staff responds to the need to cover absences and holidays during the months of highest activity. Summer is the time with the most interventions in the province, especially due to fires in rural areas and rescues in rivers and reservoirs. With these reinforcements, the Consortium assures that the service remains unaffected.
Looking to the future, the Director Plan establishes a roadmap for scaling the workforce in the long term. The forecast is that, with the 97 new positions and internal promotions, the provincial fire system will gain in efficiency and response capacity. Residents of the province can therefore expect an improvement in emergency response times.
For those interested in joining the force, public job announcements will be published in the coming months. The Consortium recommends keeping an eye on its website and official bulletins to not miss the registration dates.
