The Mairena del Aljarafe City Council has tendered a contract for 576,000 euros for the comprehensive maintenance of the painting of public schools over four years, framed within the Mairena Al Día plan.
The Mairena del Aljarafe City Council has launched a new painting maintenance service for the public schools in the municipality, an initiative that will involve an investment of 576,000 euros over the next four years. This contract, which has just begun, is the fourth of the six major axes of the municipal Mairena Al Día plan, a comprehensive programme for the modernisation of essential services endowed with 11.3 million euros.
The work will cover both interior and exterior spaces of the educational centres. Specifically, classrooms, offices, bathrooms and other facilities will be painted, as well as ceilings, walls, access points and enclosures. The painting of metal carpentry and the maintenance of exterior locksmithing are also included. In total, the area to be treated exceeds 40,000 square metres, distributed across all public schools in the locality.
The Mairena Al Día plan, presented by the mayor, Antonio Conde, aims to modernise six key services for citizens: gardening, pavements, lighting, tree pits, school painting, and the Citizen Services fleet. The mayor explained that these basic services “were becoming insufficient” and are “key to the quality of life of the residents,” which is why the local government decided to tackle their renewal with “self-demanding standards.”
Conde emphasised that “the Mairena government has great future projects, but also everyday ones,” referring to the importance of maintaining educational infrastructures in good condition. The plan started after the renewal of the street cleaning service in 2023, and now continues with the painting of schools, a service that until now was provided sporadically and will now be continuous.
The new contract will ensure comprehensive and scheduled maintenance, preventing schools from accumulating damage. The work will be carried out with materials suitable for each type of surface, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure greater durability. The City Council expects the work to begin in the coming weeks, once the logistical details with the awarded companies are finalised.
This investment adds to other initiatives of the Mairena Al Día plan, such as the improvement of pavements and lighting, which are already underway in various parts of the municipality. The aim is for all services to be renewed before the end of the term, according to municipal sources.
For residents, the updating of public schools represents a direct improvement in the daily lives of students and families, who will see their centres in better condition. Furthermore, periodic maintenance prevents major works and long-term inconveniences.
