The Government of Spain has included Guillena in the list of 211 areas affected by civil protection emergencies, following the wildfire on June 9 at the hydroelectric power station. The municipality will have access to aid for homes, businesses, and municipal expenses.
The Sevillian municipality of Guillena has been officially declared as an area affected by a civil protection emergency, according to the royal decree approved this Tuesday, July 28, by the Council of Ministers. The measure, announced by the Government Subdelegation in Seville, will allow the Town Hall, residents, and businesses to access a package of aid to address the damages caused by the wildfire recorded on June 9 in the vicinity of the hydroelectric power station in Guillena.
The Government Subdelegate in Seville, Francisco Toscano, highlighted that this declaration activates aid to repair damages to homes and belongings, compensate personal losses, support affected businesses, and cover extraordinary expenses incurred by the Town Hall during the emergency. Guillena is one of the 211 municipalities across Spain included in this list, of which 13 correspond to Andalusia, following the catastrophic events that occurred between March 31 and July 27.
The aid, managed through the Ministry of the Interior, is aimed at alleviating personal and material damages to homes, as well as the losses suffered by industrial, commercial, and service establishments. Subsidies are also contemplated for those who provided personal services or contributed goods during the emergency. The Town Hall of Guillena will be able to request compensation for the extraordinary expenses it incurred to address the fire.
Furthermore, the agreement opens the door for other government departments to implement additional measures, such as tax benefits, labour and Social Security measures, aid for the repair of municipal infrastructures, and emergency actions on public infrastructures. These measures will be activated within the respective competencies of each ministry.
