The public schools of Estepa have begun the school year 2026-2027 this Monday with a total of around 1,074 students distributed between the two primary schools in the municipality. CEIP Santa Teresa faces the new academic year with about 574 students enrolled, while CEIP Nuestra Señora de los Remedios has nearly 500.
The mayor of Estepa, Antonio Jesús Muñoz Quirós, along with the deputy mayor and councillor for Social Services, Asun Llamas, and the councillor for Culture, Ascen Castillo, visited both schools this morning to check on the progress of the first day. The municipal officials were welcomed by the directors Remedios Domínguez Corona of CEIP Santa Teresa and Antonio Miguel Montaño of CEIP Nuestra Señora de los Remedios.
One of the most notable points during the visit was the increase in demand for morning classes and school lunch services, which have grown by 15% to 20% compared to the previous year. The directors of both schools attribute this increase to the early start of the mantecados campaign, which has led many families to use these resources to balance work and school life.
The Estepa City Council has taken advantage of the months leading up to the start of classes to carry out maintenance, repair, and conditioning work in the classrooms and facilities of both schools. The aim, according to municipal sources, is for both students and teachers to find the schools in the best possible condition for the development of educational activities.
Both schools maintain a close collaboration with the City Council to meet the needs of the educational community and continue improving the services provided to families in the municipality. The Estepa City Council has wished the entire educational community a 2026-2027 school year full of learning, coexistence, and new challenges.
