The Estepeña company Galván has inaugurated a new City of Chocolate that reproduces the Plaza de España in Seville. The work is part of the Christmas campaign for mantecados and polvorones in the locality.
The town of Estepa has opened its City of Chocolate for 2026, an artistic creation that attracts visitors and curious onlookers every year and adds to the attractions of the mantecados and polvorones campaign in the municipality.
This edition recreates the Plaza de España in Seville in great detail, built from dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, and sugar.
The monument was designed by the Sevillian architect Aníbal González and inaugurated in 1929 for the Ibero-American Exposition. Its centenary will be celebrated in 2029, alongside other emblematic works by the same architect.
The event was attended by the mayor of Estepa, Antonio Jesús Muñoz, the first deputy mayor of the City Council of Seville, Juan Bueno, and Aníbal González Serrano, the architect's grandson. Also present were Julio Cuesta, commissioner of the centenary of the Ibero-American Exposition, José María Fernández, president of the Regulatory Council of the IGP Mantecados and Polvorones de Estepa, and the municipality's tourism councillor, Ascen Castillo.
The Galván Fernández family, promoters of the initiative, welcomed the guests through Marcos Galván and Asun Galván. The creation bears, as every year, the signature of the creative Nicolás Fernández.
The initiative combines art, tradition, and gastronomy, turning chocolate into a way to connect with Andalusian heritage during the Christmas season in Estepa.
