IES Aguilar y Cano and Ostippo in Estepa have begun this week classes for Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training with 1,776 enrolled students. The mayor, Antonio Jesús Muñoz Quirós, visited both centres to witness the start of the 2026/2027 school year.

The 2026/2027 school year is already underway in Estepa. The two institutes in the town, IES Aguilar y Cano and IES Ostippo, opened their doors this week to welcome nearly 2,000 students in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.

The mayor of Estepa, Antonio Jesús Muñoz Quirós, toured the facilities of both centres in the first days of classes. At IES Aguilar y Cano, he was received by its director, David Caro, and at IES Ostippo by its director, Santiago Blanco. The purpose of the visits was to see firsthand how the start of the school year has developed.

IES Aguilar y Cano faces the new academic year with 922 students spread across 42 units. Its educational offerings include ESO, all modalities of Baccalaureate in the Spanish system, and medium and higher level Vocational Training cycles.

On the other hand, IES Ostippo has 854 students this year. Its director has noted the high demand for places at the centre, to the extent that some courses have left applicants on a waiting list.

In addition to academic activities, both institutes maintain a programme of cultural, leisure and social activities that will take place throughout the year. These initiatives aim to complement academic training and encourage student participation in the life of the centre.

The Estepa City Council collaborates with the two institutes by providing spaces and auxiliary staff for the development of school activities. The council has wished a good 2026/2027 school year to the entire educational community of the town.
